Modal parameter identification using simulated evolution

AIAA Journal, 1997
A global optimization algorithm based on the Darwinian evolutionary theory is implemented for the identification of modal parameters of linear vibrating structures. The capability of the evolutionary search method in locating the global minimum among numerous local minima is demonstrated.

Modal Parameter Identification of Controlled Structures

Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 1997
A simple procedure to extract the modal parameters of the closed-loop structural system is proposed. It is formulated by using the extended Kalman filter (EKF) technique. The unknown parameters are eigenfrequencies, damping ratios, mode shapes, and modal masses.

Cable Modal Parameter Identification. II: Modal Tests

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 2009
The cable dynamic stiffness describes the load – deformation behavior that reflects the cable intrinsic dynamic characteristics. It is defined as a ratio of response to excitation and represents a very similar frequency response property to the frequency response function (FRF). Therefore, by fitting both analytical cable dynamic stiffness and measured

Modal parameter identification using Z‐transforms

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1989
AbstractA method for the time domain identification of modal parameters of a vibrating structure using Z‐transformation sequences is presented in this paper. This identification proceeds using the Z‐transfer function of a vibrating structure from which an auto‐regressive and moving‐average (ARMA) model of the vibrating structure is derived.

An inverse decaying frequency modulation EMD method for closely spaced modal parameter identification in high precision with Laplace wavelet correlation filtering

Measurement science and technology, 2020
Modal parameter identification is a useful tool to reveal natural vibration characteristics in dynamic design and analysis. Due to the influence of closely spaced modes with close frequencies and large dampings, identification accuracy using traditional ...

Cable Modal Parameter Identification. I: Theory

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 2009
Cable modal parameters (natural frequencies and damping ratios) that represent the cable inherent dynamic characteristics play an important role in the construction, vibration control, condition assessment, and long-term health monitoring of cable-supported structures.

Improvements in the HHT for the Modal Parameter Identification of Structures with Closely Spaced Modes

Journal of earthquake engineering, 2020
The Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) is widely used to identify modal parameters of structures because of its advantages in analyzing nonstationary signals.

A Modal Parameter Identification Method Based on Improved Covariance-Driven Stochastic Subspace Identification

, 2020
For the quantitative dynamic analysis of aero gas turbines, accurate modal parameters must be identified. However, the complicated structure of thin-walled casings may cause false mode identification and mode absences if conventional methods are used ...

Multi‐modal parameter identification by automata approach

Journal of the Chinese Institute of Engineers, 1993
Abstract In this paper, we consider the multi‐modal function optimization problem. An automata model with improved learning schemes is proposed to solve the global optimization problem. Theoretically, we prove that the automaton converges to the global optimum with a probability arbitrarily close to 1.
