Automation of Experimental Modal Analysis Using Bayesian Optimization

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
The dynamic characterization of structures by means of modal parameters offers many valuable insights into the vibrational behavior of these structures. However, modal parameter estimation has traditionally required expert knowledge and cumbersome manual

Damage Identification And Quantification Of Structures By Vibration-Based Model Updating Method Using Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی عمران شریف, 2021
Engineering structures are prone to damage over their service life as a result of natural disaster so that damage spreading may lead to many casualties. In order to prevent these catastrophic events, early damage detection must be carried out.

Sensitivity Analysis of Modal Parameters of a Jacket Offshore Wind Turbine to Operational Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
Accurate estimation of offshore wind turbine (OWT) modal parameters has a prominent effect on the design loads, lifetime prediction, and dynamic response of the system. Modal parameters can vary during the operation of OWTs.

Uncertainties on modal parameters by operational modal analysis [PDF]

open access: yesMechanics & Industry, 2014

Parameter Identification of Bladed Assemblies Using a Subspace Method [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal for Simulation and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization, 2008
This paper is aimed at identifying a dynamical model for bladed assemblies such as turbines. Unknown excitation forces are applied to bladed disk assemblies leading to forced vibration responses.

Experimental Detection and Measurement of Crack-Type Damage Features in Composite Thin-Wall Beams Using Modal Analysis

open access: yesSensors, 2021
An experimental proof-of-concept for damage detection in composite beams using modal analysis has been conducted. The purpose was to demonstrate that damage features can be detected, located, and measured on the surface of a relatively complex thin-wall ...

A novel method for identification of damage location in frame structures using a modal parameters-based indicator [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Civil Engineering, 2022
Diverse strategies for identifying and finding the damages in structures have been continuously engaging to originators within the field. Due to the direct connection between the firmness, characteristic frequency, and mode shapes within the structure ...

Modal parameter identification of a MEMS gyroscope [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2000 American Control Conference. ACC (IEEE Cat. No.00CH36334), 2000
This paper reports the experimental system identification of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory microelectromechanical (MEMS) vibrational rate gyroscope. A high-order two-input/two-output transfer function for the microgyroscope is identified and mapped to a three-mode rigid plate model that reveals the orientation of important vibrational modes.
