Field measurements of typhoon effects on a transmission tower and its modal parameter identification

, 2020
Many transmission towers have collapsed under typhoons in recent years, mainly due to the unclear behaviors of their structural properties, introducing many deficiencies in the design process.

Modal identification of gyroscopic distributed-parameter systems

AIAA Journal, 1990
A new modal identification method for gyroscopic distributed-parameter systems is presented. The method represents an extension of previous work for the class of self-adjoint distributed-parameter systems. The modal identification method is formulated as a variational problem in which stationary values of a functional quotient are sought.

Identification of modal parameters in vibrating structures

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1988
Abstract A method is presented for the identification of the eigensolution associated with vibrating structures. The identification can be performed in the presence of periodic external excitations and noisy measurements. It is assumed that the mass properties of the structure are known, and that the stiffness properties are not known.

Experimental modal parameter identification and validation of cantilever beam

, 2020
This paper aims at identifying the dynamic characteristics of a structure, by Experimental Modal Analysis (EMA), necessary for predicting the response of a structure due to forces acting on it in the working environment. The three modal parameters namely-

Identification of Modal Parameters with Unknown Input

2003
The techniques developed for structural identification are typically devoted to obtain a structural model on the base of information on the response and on the forcing action. In many situations, however, it can be necessary to refer only to the measured responses.

Modal parameter identification for closely spaced modes of civil structures based on an upgraded stochastic subspace methodology

Structure and Infrastructure Engineering, 2019
Based on a recently developed stochastic subspace identification methodology equipped with an alternative stabilization diagram and a hierarchical sifting process, this research aims to improve this approach for more efficiently identifying the modal ...

Identification of modal parameters from transmissibility measurements

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2008
Abstract It is a well-known fact that linear dynamic behavior of structures can be studied by modeling the relation between force(s) [input(s)], acting on a structure, and their resulting structural vibration response(s) [output(s)]. For industrial structures, in their real in-operation conditions, it often becomes hard (or impossible) to ...

Modal parameter identification using response data only

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2005
Order estimation and spurious mode elimination concerning the subspace identification technique are discussed in this paper. To avoid underestimating the state space model order, order estimate is given in terms of component energy index rather than matrix singular values.

A modal parameter identification method of machine tools based on particle swarm optimization

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2019
The dynamic characteristics of the computerized numerical control (CNC) machine tool directly affect its machining quality, and it is necessary to carry out the working mode analysis of the CNC machine tool.

Mode isolation: A new algorithm for modal parameter identification

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2001
Multiple degree of freedom (MDOF) algorithms are the dominant methods for extracting modal parameters from measured data. These methods are founded on the notion that because the response of a linear dynamic system is the sum of many modal contributions, the extraction technique must deal with all of the modal parameters in a simultaneous fashion.
