EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

A Modular Percussion Synthesis Environment

open access: yes, 2010
The construction of new virtual instruments is one long-term goal of physical modeling synthesis; a common strategy across various different physical modeling methodologies, including lumped network models, modal synthesis and scattering based methods ...

Modal intersection types, two-level languages, and staged synthesis

open access: yes, 2015
A typed λ-calculus, λ∩ ⎕, is introduced, combining intersection types and modal types. We develop the metatheory of λ∩ ⎕, with particular emphasis on the theory of subtyping and distributivity of the modal and intersection type operators. We describe how

Bounded Petri Net Synthesis from Modal Transition Systems is Undecidable [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, the synthesis of bounded Petri nets from deterministic modal transition systems is shown to be undecidable. The proof is built from three components.

Bessel and cosine filtering approaches for electromechanical modes identification

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The real-time system monitoring of electromechanical oscillations in power grids is essential to maintain operational control in an optimal state and to make the right decisions in any adverse situation.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

SOUND SYNTHESIS OF GONGS OBTAINED FROM NONLINEAR THIN PLATES VIBRATIONS: COMPARISON BETWEEN A MODAL APPROACH AND A FINITE DIFFERENCE SCHEME

open access: yes, 2013
The sound of a gong is simulated through the vibrationsof thin elastic plates. The dynamical equations are necessarily nonlinear, crashing and shimmering being typicalnonlinear effects. In this work two methods are used tosimulate the nonlinear plates: a

Modal distribution synthesis from sub-sampled autocorrelation function [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The problem of signal synthesis from bilinear time-frequency representations such as the Wigner distribution has been investigated using methods which exploit an outer-product interpretation of these distributions.
