Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

ADGAN: Adaptive Domain Medical Image Synthesis Based on Generative Adversarial Networks

open access: yesCAAI Artificial Intelligence Research
Multimodal medical imaging of human pathological tissues provides comprehensive information to assist in clinical diagnosis. However, due to the high cost of imaging, physiological incompatibility, and the harmfulness of radioactive tracers, multimodal ...

Optimum Mass Matrices for Short Wave Pulse Propagation Finite Element Models

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2003
The matrices of a substructure ensuring minimum modal errors of the whole structure are obtained by using optimization approach. The mass and stiffness matrices of a small component domain of selected dimension are obtained by applying the modal ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Modelling approaches for the low-frequency analysis of built-up structures with non-deterministic properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Virtual simulations of the behaviour of mechanical systems are of widespread use in academia and industry. Mechanical structures are often analysed using the finite element method, where deterministic models with one particular set of physical parameters

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Modal Synthesis with the Isogeometric Kirchhoff–Love Shell Elements

open access: yes, 2017
The modal synthesis method is frequently used for the analysis of large structures composed of multiple parts concerning dynamic aspects. In this paper, we extended the modal synthesis method under the isogeometric analysis framework.

Synthesis of Control of a Two-Rotor Control System by the Method of Modal Synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
This article proposes a controller for a twin-rotor control system based on the use of modal synthesis methods with a full-order Luenberger observer. Based on the results of the experi-ment, it is shown that the controller designed using modal synthesis ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
