3D ultrasound guidance for radiofrequency ablation in an anthropomorphic thyroid nodule phantom

open access: yesEuropean Radiology Experimental
Background The use of two-dimensional (2D) ultrasound for guiding radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of benign thyroid nodules presents limitations, including the inability to monitor the entire treatment volume and operator dependency in electrode ...

Investigating the Semantic Development of Modal Markers: The Role of Context

open access: yesClotho, 2019
The article tackles the problem of studying diachronic semantic changes of modal markers in Latin. It proposes to do so by using context as a proxy for tracing the development of otherwise unchanging forms.

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...

TMC4 localizes to multiple taste cell types in the mouse taste papillae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Transmembrane channel‐like 4 (TMC4), a voltage‐dependent chloride channel, plays a critical role in amiloride‐insensitive salty taste transduction. TMC4 is broadly expressed in all mature taste cell types, suggesting a possible involvement of multiple cell types in this pathway.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Proof of concept 3D ultrasound strain imaging measuring effect of a ring pessary on avulsed puborectal muscle

open access: yesCommunications Medicine
Background Placement or fitting of a ring pessary is one of the treatment options for women with pelvic organ prolapse (POP), resulting from avulsion. To determine the effect of ring pessary use in these women, usually qualitative measures like a patient
