Modal Expansionism [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Philosophical Logic, 2019
There are various well-known paradoxes of modal recombination. This paper offers a solution to a variety of such paradoxes in the form of a new conception of metaphysical modality. On the proposed conception, metaphysical modality exhibits a type of indefinite extensibility.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Selective agonists of KIR and NKG2A to evade missing self response of natural killer cells

open access: yesScientific Reports
Immune rejection is one of the most serious challenges in allogeneic transplantation, including allogeneic induced pluripotent stem cell (allo-iPSC)-derived cell therapy. Beta-2-Microglobulin gene-knockout, human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I-deficient

Deep learning-based segmentation of 3D ultrasound images of the thyroid

open access: yesWFUMB Ultrasound Open
The goal of the study was to develop a method for segmentation of the thyroid, carotid artery (CA), and jugular vein (JV) using 3D ultrasound data. This method forms the basis for a computer-assisted needle-based intervention for thyroid nodules and ...

Sequence-of-tense and the features of finite tenses

open access: yesNordlyd: Tromsø University Working Papers on Language & Linguistics, 2015
Sequence-of-tense (SOT) is often described as a (past) tense verb form that does not correspond to a semantically interpretable tense. Since SOT clauses behave in other respects like finite clauses, the question arises as to whether the syntactic ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Semi-supervised Deep Generative Modelling of Incomplete Multi-Modality Emotional Data

open access: yes, 2018
There are threefold challenges in emotion recognition. First, it is difficult to recognize human's emotional states only considering a single modality. Second, it is expensive to manually annotate the emotional data.

Changing Modalities

open access: yesJournal of Logic and Computation, 2004
The paper is devoted to an investigation of properties of dynamic modal logics with some interesting and rich features. A dynamic modal logic DML and its extension \(\mu\)DML are presented. They were developed in order to unify and extend dynamic epistemic logics proposed before in another paper by the author.
