Spatial mode switchable, wavelength tunable erbium doped fiber laser incorporating a spatial light modulator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present a 2-mode group, switchable spatial mode erbium doped fiber laser incorporating a spatial light modulator. The laser wavelength can be tuned using an intra-cavity wavelength selective filter and provides >10dB extinction ratio between LP01 ...

Sub-100 fs watt-level Kerr-lens mode-locked Yb:CaYAlO4 laser with a gigahertz repetition rate

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2023
We report a 1.04 GHz high-power Kerr-lens mode-locked Yb:CaYAlO4 laser pumped by a single-mode fiber laser at 976 nm. Based on a bow-tie cavity, stable unidirectional mode-locked operation is obtained with an output coupler of 1.6%.

High-Sensitivity Demodulation of Fiber-Optic Acoustic Emission Sensor Using Self-Injection Locked Diode Laser

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
We demonstrate the use of a self-injection locked distributed feedback (DFB) diode laser for high-sensitivity detection of acoustic emission (AE) using a fiber-coil Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI) sensor.

All-fiber laser mode-locked by the acousto-optic modulation of a fiber Bragg grating in suspended core fiber [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
An ytterbium-doped fiber laser mode-locked by the interaction of a fiber Bragg grating and longitudinal acoustic waves in a suspended core fiber is experimentally investigated. An optimized design of an acousto-optic modulator is also proposed.

Wavelength-Switchable and Wavelength-Tunable All-Normal-Dispersion Mode-Locked Yb-Doped Fiber Laser Based on Single-Walled Carbon Nanotube Wall Paper Absorber

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
We demonstrate a compact wavelength-tunable and -switchable mode-locked Yb-doped fiber (YDF) laser based on single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) wall paper absorber. Two mechanisms coexist in the fiber cavity.

Actively mode-locked Raman fiber laser

open access: yesOptics Express, 2015
Active mode-locking of Raman fiber laser is experimentally investigated for the first time. An all fiber connected and polarization maintaining loop cavity of ~500 m long is pumped by a linearly polarized 1120 nm Yb fiber laser and modulated by an acousto-optic modulator.

Sub-100 fs pulse generation from dispersion-managed mode-locked Er:ZBLAN fiber laser at 2.8 μm

open access: yesHigh Power Laser Science and Engineering
We demonstrate the sub-100 fs pulse generation from a dispersion-managed mode-locked Er:ZBLAN fiber laser at 2.8 μm. Both numerical simulation and experiment demonstrate that stretched-pulse and dissipative soliton mode lockings coexist in the near-zero ...

Efficient fiber Bragg grating and fiber Fabry-Pe'rot sensor multiplexing scheme using a broadband pulsed mode-locked laser

open access: yes, 2005
A pulsed broadband mode-locked laser (MLL) combined with interferometric interrogation is shown to yield an efficient means of multiplexing a large number of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) or fiber Fabry-Perot (FFP) strain sensors with high performance ...

Observation the Multi-Soliton Patterns From the Er-Doped Mode-Locked Fiber Laser Modulated by PtSe2

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2020
The passively mode-locked fiber laser modulated by low-dimensional materials can provide an ideal platform to investigate the soliton dynamics. Here, we experimentally explored the soliton formation and evolution from an erbium-doped fiber laser mode ...

An investigation into Raman mode locking of fiber lasers

open access: yesOptics Express, 2008
We present a detailed experimental and modeling study of fiber lasers passively mode locked using stimulated Raman scattering. We present experimental measurements of the mode locking behavior, and use the model to elucidate the nonlinear processes that create the intracavity pulses and determine the repetition rate and the order of fundamental and ...
