Breathable Graphene Oxide‐Polymer Composite Membranes With Two‐Step Barrier Mechanism Against Nerve Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Breathable membranes that reject chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are required for next‐generation protective apparel. A dual‐function graphene oxide (GO)‐polyamine architecture is introduced that addresses the long‐standing tradeoff between vapor transmission and CWA selectivity.

Passively Mode-Locked Erbium-Doped Fiber Laser and Application in Laser Thrombolysis

open access: yesPhotonics
Fiber lasers have been widely used in surgery with the development of fiber photonics. Since the human body is prone to myocardial infarction caused by blood clots, laser thrombolysis was proposed as a safe and efficient treatment.

Highly-Stable Microwave Generation System Based on Figure-8 Mode-Locked Fiber Laser for Space Applications [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
We have developed a spaceborne optical frequency comb based on figure-8 mode-locked fiber laser for highly-stable microwave generation. Our low phase noise, robust and compact mode-locked laser has passed the environment tests for space applications.

MXene saturable absorber enabled hybrid mode-locking technology: a new routine of advancing femtosecond fiber lasers performance

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2020
MXene is a promising two-dimensional (2D) material that is widely used in electro-photonic devices due to its unique properties. In this contribution, V2CTx, a novel MXene, was employed as a saturable absorber (SA) for hybrid passively mode-locked fiber ...

Spatiotemporal self-similar fiber laser

open access: yes, 2019
In this Letter, we demonstrate, to the best of our knowledge, the first spatiotemporally mode-locked fiber laser with self-similar pulse evolution. The multimode fiber oscillator generates parabolic amplifier similaritons at 1030 nm with 90 mW average ...

Analysis of nonlinear pulse propagation in an optical fiber lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Using Fourier Series Analysis Technique and time-domain window function, the formation process of nonlinear laser pulses in a mode-locked fiber laser is analyzed theoretically.

Artifact‐Minimizing Ultrathin Transparent Electrodes Fabricated via iCVD for In Vivo Optogenetic Stimulation and Neural Signal Monitoring of Primary Visual Cortex

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present ultrathin flexible transparent electrodes through iCVD‐enabled molecular control of 10 nm gold films on poly(dimethylaminomethylstyrene). In vivo validation demonstrated photoelectric artifact reduction vs. opaque electrodes and preservation of natural neural dynamics.

Nonlinear-Optical-Loop-Mirror-Based Mode-Locked Fiber Laser Sensor for Low-Temperature Measurement

open access: yesPhotonics
A temperature-sensing scheme is realized by a passively mode-locked Yb-doped fiber laser based on the nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM). The ambient temperature can be measured by detecting the pulse repetition frequency of the mode-locked fiber laser

Mutually coherent dual-comb source generated from a free-running linear fiber laser

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
We demonstrate a simple scheme for mutually coherent dual-comb generation, in which two frequency combs are emitted from a linear polarization maintaining (PM) fiber laser. The employed master laser is simultaneously mode-locked along two cross-polarized

Nonlinear dynamics of mode-locking optical fiber ring lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We consider a model of a mode-locked fiber ring laser for which the evolution of a propagating pulse in a birefringent optical fiber is periodically perturbed by rotation of the polarization state owing to the presence of a passive polarizer.
