Study of millimeter wave phase shift in 40 GHz hybrid mode locked lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
An investigation into using hybrid mode-locked lasers to implement millimeter wave phase shift is presented. The phase shift is measured directly using a vector network analyzer enabling straightforward characterization of such systems.

Spectrally Flat Supercontinuum Generation in a ZBLAN Fiber Pumped by Erbium-Doped Mode-Locked Fiber Laser

open access: yesPhotonic Sensors, 2019
We have experimentally demonstrated the flat supercontinuum (SC) generation using a 10-m-long ZrF4-BaF2-LaF3-AlF3-NaF (ZBLAN) fluoride fiber pumped by an erbium-doped mode-locked fiber laser incorporating carbon-nanotube-based saturable absorbers.

Mode-locked thulium-doped fiber laser with microfiber based polarization beam splitter

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2020
We report on a passively mode-locked thulium-doped all-fiber laser utilizing our fabricated microfiber-based polarization beam splitters (PBSs). The all-fiber PBSs composed of two parallel and coupled microfibers are fabricated to separate light in two ...

Dye‐Initiated Chirped Cholesteric Polymer Networks Exhibiting Broadband Dissipative Chiral Photonic Bands

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A dye‐based photoinitiator acting as a structure‐directing element, guides the formation of a cholesteric polymer network that behaves as a chirped photonic structure with dissipative chiral coupling. Photopolymerization freezes a depth‐dependent helical pitch, broadening the Bragg resonance spectrum.

High-Energy Passive Mode-Locking of Fiber Lasers [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optics, 2012
Mode-locking refers to the generation of ultrashort optical pulses in laser systems. A comprehensive study of achieving high-energy pulses in a ring cavity fiber laser that is passively mode-locked by a series of waveplates and a polarizer is presented in this paper.
