Integrated bus transit scheduling for the Beijing bus group based on a unified mode of operation [PDF]
AbstractThis paper presents an applied study of scheduling buses and drivers for the Beijing Bus Group (BJBUS), the largest bus company in China. This is pioneering research in China for bus transit scheduling using computers based on a unified mode of operation. It is anticipated that the research fruits and experiences obtained would be of benefit to

Sliding Mode Control Of A Bus Suspension System
The vibrations, caused by the irregularities of the road surface, are to be suppressed via suspension systems. In this paper, sliding mode control for a half bus model with air suspension system is presented. The bus is modelled as five degrees of freedom (DoF) system. The mathematical model of the half bus is developed using Lagrange Equations.

Bus Semirapid Transit Mode Development and Evaluation
The article reviews the Federal Transit Administration's (FTA's) Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) program that is aimed at upgrading bus service into semirapid transit category. Some of the earlier similar programs that were initially successful but later degraded by allowing sharing of lanes by high-occupancy vehicles (HOV) are discussed. The BRT program, with

Impact of perceptions of bus service performance on mode choice preference
As transit service performance should be considered from the transit passengers’ perspectives, it is essential to determine passengers’ perceptions of service performance and to understand the role of these perceptions in travel decisions. As the bus market share has steadily declined, the aim of this study is to explore the impact of perceptions of ...

Congestive mode-switching and economies of scale on a bus route
This paper introduces a type of circular causation called Congestive Mode-Switching (CMS) that may arise when an increase in congestion penalizes transit relative to driving. In turn, rising congestion persuades some transit riders to drive, which exacerbates congestion further, and so on.

Abstract Children's relationship with time in preschools is an under‐researched area. Young children rarely know how to measure time using a clock, but their experiences of time may contribute to understanding children's well‐being and debates about quality in preschools.
