Congestive mode-switching and economies of scale on a bus route

open access: yesTransportation Research Part B: Methodological, 2023
This paper introduces a type of circular causation called Congestive Mode-Switching (CMS) that may arise when an increase in congestion penalizes transit relative to driving. In turn, rising congestion persuades some transit riders to drive, which exacerbates congestion further, and so on.

Dual-Mode Slotted TDMA Digital Bus [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the fifth symposium on Data communications - SIGCOMM '77, 1977
A Dual-Mode Slotted TDMA Digital Bus has been designed and a prototype system has been built. This type of bus is a hybrid design which provides optimized bandwidth usage when such a system contains a combination of users with high duty cycle and/or synchronous data and low duty cycle asynchronous data.

The mode of theatricality in the work of representatives of “Bu-Ba-Bu” group

open access: yesSynopsis: Text Context Media, 2021
The article deals with the phenomenon of theatricalization of the artistic picture of the world in the works of authors-representatives of the group “Bu-Ba-Bu”, (Yuriy Andrukhovych, Viktor Neborak, Oleksandr Irvanets) who carry out a large-scale renewal of Ukrainian literature by dramatizing reality. That is why the mode of theatricality best shows the

Young children's perspectives of time: New directions for co‐constructing understandings of quality in ECEC

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Children's relationship with time in preschools is an under‐researched area. Young children rarely know how to measure time using a clock, but their experiences of time may contribute to understanding children's well‐being and debates about quality in preschools.

Adaptive Sliding‐Mode Control in Bus Voltage for an Islanded DC Microgrid [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, 2017
The control of bus voltage is a crucial task for the stable operation of islanded DC microgrids. To improve the DC bus voltage control dynamics and stability, this paper proposes an adaptive sliding‐mode control method based on large‐signal model. The sliding‐mode control, adaptive observation, and fix‐frequency pulse width modulation technology are ...

Analysis of Bus Transportation Mode in Central Europe

open access: yesCognitive Sustainability, 2022
Buses belong to the most important means of public transportation that significantly impact the economic and environmental aspects of people in different countries. This study has focused on studying the relationship between buses and their effect on GDP, road networks and population in Hungary, Poland, Czech and Slovakia.

The Effectiveness of Unpermitted Bus Services (Pirate) Transportation Mode

open access: yesJournal of Asian Scientific Research, 2022
Informal transportation services are often associated with safety risks, as the use of old vehicles in poor condition does not guarantee the safety and comfort of users. Currently, existing public transportation services in Kota Kinabalu does not cover the entire city area, which has led to the existence of informal public transportation mode, namely ...

Analysis of Strength Stiffness and Modes for Bus Body Frame

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2021
Abstract In this paper, the bus body frame is made as a research object. The finite element model of bus body frame is built in Hypermesh software. The static strength and stiffness of bus body frame under four typical working conditions are calculated by Nastran solver.

Increased Endurance of Nonvolatile Photonics Enabled by Nanostructured Phase‐Change Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Tapered and segmented islands of the phase‐change material (PCM) antimony selenide (Sb2Se3) integrated on silicon microring resonators enable ultra‐low‐loss, high‐endurance, non‐volatile photonic tuning. The nanostructured PCM design suppresses interfacial scattering and thermal stress, achieving record endurance over 100 million electrical switching ...

Quantum information processing via a lossy bus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We describe a method to perform two qubit measurements and logic operations on pairs of qubits which each interact with a harmonic oscillator degree of freedom (the \emph{bus}), but do not directly interact with one another.
