ABSTRACT Pediatric radiation therapy presents unique challenges compared to adult treatments, including those of immobilization, potential need for sedation, and the critical importance of accurate, reproducible positioning. Additionally, heightened attention to imaging doses is necessary to minimize long‐term toxicity in survivors.

Shape- and Size-Dependent Refractive Index Sensing and SERS Performance of Gold Nanoplates [PDF]
Plasmonic sensors are promising for ultrasensitive chemical and biological analysis. Gold nanoplates (Au NPLs) show unique geometrical structures with high ratios of surface to bulk atoms, which display fascinating plasmonic properties but require ...

The Role of “Adult‐Onset” Cancer Predisposition Genes in Pediatric Cancer: A Comprehensive Review
ABSTRACT Current literature estimates that 10% of pediatric cancers are caused by pathogenic or likely pathogenic (P/LP) germline variants in cancer predisposition genes (CPGs). Variants in CPGs thought to increase cancer risk exclusively during adulthood are referred to as “adult‐onset” CPGs (aoCPGs).

Shape-based CT lung nodule segmentation using five-dimensional mean shift clustering and MEM with shape information [PDF]
This paper presents a joint spatial-intensity-shape (JSIS) feature-based method for the segmentation of CT lung nodules. First, a volumetric shape index (SI) feature based on the second-order partial derivatives of the CT image is calculated.

Mode selectivity with polarization shaping in the mid-IR [PDF]
We report that polarization-shaped mid-infrared (IR) pulses can be used to enhance the vibrational population of one mode over another in a coupled molecular system. A genetic algorithm and a new mid-IR polarization shaper were used to alter the relative vibrational excitation of the two carbonyl stretching modes in Mn(CO)(5)Br.

Mode Shape Variation for a Low-Mode Number Flexible Cylinder Subject to Vortex-Induced Vibrations [PDF]
The excitation of two low-mode number, flexible cylinders in uniform-flow is investigated to determine effects of structural mode shape on vortex-induced vibrations.

Health Literacy, Self‐Efficacy and Knowledge of Sickle Cell Disease Among Caregivers
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a hereditary blood disorder in which abnormal haemoglobin leads to severe anaemia, painful crises and organ failure. Caregivers’ health literacy (HL) – their ability to assess, understand and apply information, and interact with healthcare professionals – is crucial for managing children with SCD, yet ...

A simplified method for estimating damping of joined plate structures with partial overlap region
Mechanical joints such as bolted and spot welded joints are widely used to join plate structures. The existence of contact interface in the joint increases the vibration damping in the structure because the energy dissipation due to friction occurs at ...
