An Advanced Edge-Detection Method for Noncontact Structural Displacement Monitoring

open access: yesSensors, 2020
A non-contact vision sensor system for monitoring structural displacements with advanced Zernike subpixel edge detection technique is suggested in this paper. Edge detection can detect features of objects effectively without using templates.

Experimental Study on the Natural Dynamic Characteristics of Steel-Framed Modular Structures

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
Corner-supported modular structures are made of repetitive prefurnished, prefinished modular units, which are fabricated in a factory and transported to the site of a building to form a permanent building block.

Damage identification in a concrete beam using curvature difference ratio [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Previous studies utilising changes in mode shape or curvature to locate damage rely on the fact that the greatest change occurs around the defect. However, in concrete beams this fact is undermined due to the nature of the defect as distributed multi ...

A Noise-Robust, Baseline-Free, and Adaptive Damage Indicator of Plate-like Structures Based on the Multicomponent Information Separation of High-Resolution Mode Shapes Using Wavelets

open access: yesSensors
Modal-based damage identification methods, particularly those utilizing mode shapes, excel in damage localization due to their spatial distribution characteristics.

Shape-preserving diffusion of a high-order mode

open access: yes, 2012
The close relation between the processes of paraxial diffraction and coherent diffusion is reflected in the similarity between their shape-preserving solutions, notably the Gaussian modes.

Epoxy/Polycaprolactone Systems with Triple-Shape Memory Effect: Electrospun Nanoweb with and without Graphene Versus Co-Continuous Morphology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Triple-shape memory epoxy (EP)/polycaprolactone (PCL) systems (PCL content: 23 wt %) with different structures (PCL nanoweb embedded in EP matrix and EP/PCL with co-continuous phase structure) were produced.

Damage Identification of Structures Using Second-Order Approximation of Neumann Series Expansion [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Rehabilitation in Civil Engineering, 2020
In this paper, a new method proposed for structural damage detection from limited number of sensors using extreme learning machine (ELM). One of the main challenges in structural damage identification problems is the limitation in the number of used ...

Nonequilibrium effects of anisotropic compression applied to vortex lattices in Bose-Einstein condensates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We have studied the dynamics of large vortex lattices in a dilute-gas Bose-Einstein condensate. While undisturbed lattices have a regular hexagonal structure, large-amplitude quadrupolar shape oscillations of the condensate are shown to induce a wealth ...
