Application of genetic algorithm for crack diagnosis of a free-free aluminum beam with transverse crack subjected to axial and bending load

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2018
A beam structure in presence of crack subjected to both bending and axial load has been investigated for damage diagnosis to predict crack location and crack depth based on an optimized intelligent technique using genetic algorithms approach ...

Effects of the Fluid Replacement Method During Online Hemodiafiltration on the Solute Removal Performance and Biocompatibility Using the Asymmetric Cellulose Triacetate Membrane

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Experience With Performing Rheocarna Therapy via the Single‐Needle Method for Treatment of Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study investigated the safety and efficacy of single‐needle Rheocarna therapy for chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) with wounds. Methods Six patients with CLTI involving ulcers unresponsive to revascularization underwent single‐needle Rheocarna treatment.

Mode selectivity with polarization shaping in the mid-IR [PDF]

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2009
We report that polarization-shaped mid-infrared (IR) pulses can be used to enhance the vibrational population of one mode over another in a coupled molecular system. A genetic algorithm and a new mid-IR polarization shaper were used to alter the relative vibrational excitation of the two carbonyl stretching modes in Mn(CO)(5)Br.

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Continuous wavelet analysis of mode shapes differences for damage detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents a new damage detection methodology for beams. It applies wavelet analysis to locate the damage from changes in the mode shapes (geometric based analysis).

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Natural Vibration Characteristics Analysis of a High-Rise Reinforced Masonry Structure Based on Field Test Data

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
In structural response array observation, the vibration response of a structure during an earthquake or from the natural environment is recorded and stored using high-sensitivity strong motion seismographs, and the dynamic characteristics of the ...
