Foundations for model‐based systems engineering and model‐based safety assessment
Systems Engineering, 2018Abstract This article is a contribution to the INCOSE initiative for model‐based engineering transformation. Its material has been presented at the ALSEE tour event in Oslo in September 2016. The ideas developed here come from the practical and theoretical experience of the authors in both industrial and academic frameworks.

The aim of the rational-consensus method is to produce "rational consensus", that is, "mathematical aggregation", by weighing the performance of each expert on the basis of his or her knowledge and ability to judge relevant uncertainties. The measurement of the performance of the experts is based on the expert’s assessment of "seed variables".

I am interested in heuristic search and optimization, particularly algorithms that explicitly construct a model of the search space and attempt rational action with respect to this abstract model.

A model-based distance for clustering
Proceedings of the IEEE-INNS-ENNS International Joint Conference on Neural Networks. IJCNN 2000. Neural Computing: New Challenges and Perspectives for the New Millennium, 2000A Riemannian distance is defined which is appropriate for clustering multivariate data. This distance requires that data is first fitted with a differentiable density model allowing the definition of an appropriate Riemannian metric. A tractable approximation is developed for the case of a Gaussian mixture model and the distance is tested on artificial

Model-Based Biosignal Interpretation
Methods of Information in Medicine, 1994Abstract:Two relatively new approaches to model-based biosignal interpretation, qualitative simulation and modelling by causal probabilistic networks, are compared to modelling by differential equations. A major problem in applying a model to an individual patient is the estimation of the parameters.
