Cloning instruments, model maintenance and calibration transfer [PDF]
Most literature on the application of Non-Destructive Spectral Sensors (NDSS) reports proofs of concept limited to model calculation (calibration) and its application on a so-called independent data set (validation, or test).

More Accurate Pinhole Camera Calibration with Imperfect Planar Target [PDF]
This paper presents a novel approach to camera calibration that improves final accuracy with respect to standard methods using precision planar targets, even if now inaccurate, unmeasured, roughly planar targets can be used.

Modeling Trophic Dynamics in Lake Võrtsjärv: Energy Flow and Species Interactions
Understanding ecosystem dynamics is essential for ecological research and resource management. Bioenergetic or allometric trophic network models are effective in elucidating these interactions.

Implementation of the AdH hydrodynamic model on the Włocławek Reservoir
The variation of water velocity in an artificial dam reservoir is influenced not only by the inflow discharge, but also by the bathymetry of the reservoir and the water level at the dam.

Elastic Bayesian Model Calibration
Functional data are ubiquitous in scientific modeling. For instance, quantities of interest are modeled as functions of time, space, energy, density, etc. Uncertainty quantification methods for computer models with functional response have resulted in tools for emulation, sensitivity analysis, and calibration that are widely used.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Towards Fair and Calibrated Models
Recent literature has seen a significant focus on building machine learning models with specific properties such as fairness, i.e., being non-biased with respect to a given set of attributes, calibration i.e., model confidence being aligned with its predictive accuracy, and explainability, i.e., ability to be understandable to humans.
