The relationship between excess returns, firm size and earnings on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange
While considerable empirical work has been conducted in the United States concerning excess returns and the relationship of these returns to firm size and E/P ratio, thus far, there have been few similar empirical studies conducted using Johannesburg ...

ABSTRACT This study investigates how the personal characteristics of finance ministers influence political budget cycles in Africa. Using a new dataset covering 300 finance ministers across 23 countries from 1980 to 2020, we find that political budget cycles primarily take the form of increased government consumption during election years.

Climate Change Laws and European Stock Markets: An Event Analysis
ABSTRACT Under the context of the climate change we assess the impact of EU's legislative initiative on European stock markets. Specifically, we focus on its impact on energy and Environmental Social Governance (ESG) sectors for equity returns and volatility for a representative basket of EU countries (participating also in Eurozone) as well as ...

Model Misspecification and Assumption Violations With the Linear Mixed Model: A Meta-Analysis
This meta-analysis attempts to synthesize the Monte Carlo (MC) literature for the linear mixed model under a longitudinal framework. The meta-analysis aims to inform researchers about conditions that are important to consider when evaluating model ...

Robustness to Model Misspecification in Bayesian Experimental Design [PDF]
Scientific experiments can be costly to conduct due to various reasons. Therefore, researchers need to choose the experimental design which allows them to obtain the highest amount of information possible. As an information-theoretical framework based on

Detecting model misspecification in cosmology with scale-dependent normalizing flows
Current and upcoming cosmological surveys will produce unprecedented amounts of high-dimensional data, which require complex high-fidelity forward simulations to accurately model both physical processes and systematic effects which describe the data ...

For subject i, we monitor an event that can occur multiple times over a random observation window [0, τi). At each recurrence, p concomitant variables, xi, associated to the event recurrence are recorded—a subset (q≤p) of which is measured with errors ...
