Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Gradient boosting model optimized by the certainty factor method to landslide susceptibility assessment

open access: yesShuiwen dizhi gongcheng dizhi
The gradient boosting model (GBM) has demonstrated strong predictive performance in landslide susceptibility assessment; however, the complexity of factors limits its stability and accuracy.

The Meta-Model Approach for Simulation-based Design Optimization.

open access: yes
The design of products and processes makes increasing use of computer simulations for the prediction of its performance. These computer simulations are considerably cheaper than their physical equivalent. Finding the optimal design has therefore become a

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

A mixed integer optimization strategy for oil and gas production planning

open access: yes, 2008
Oil and gas production is the cornerstone of the modern petrochemical industry, and its upstream as well as downstream processing provides many challenges to the process modeling, optimization and control areas.

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

UAV Remote Sensing for Integrated Monitoring and Model Optimization of Citrus Leaf Water Content and Chlorophyll

open access: yesAgriculture
Leaf water content (LWC) and chlorophyll content (CHL) are pivotal physiological indicators for assessing citrus growth and stress responses. However, conventional measurement techniques—such as fresh-to-dry weight ratio and spectrophotometry—are ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
