Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

A Generalist Reinforcement Learning Agent for Compressing Multiple Convolutional Networks Using Singular Value Decomposition

open access: yesIEEE Access
Deep learning models have gained popularity in the last decade for computer vision tasks. Although these models are widely used, they process data in cloud services due to requiring large amounts of memory unavailable on consumer devices.

Multiobjective optimization using surrogates

open access: yes, 2006
Until recently, optimization was regarded as a discipline of rather theoretical interest, with limited real-life applicability due to the comutational or experimental expense involved.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

On convergence of the maximum block improvement method

open access: yes, 2015
. The MBI (maximum block improvement) method is a greedy approach to solving optimization problems where the decision variables can be grouped into a finite number of blocks. Assuming that optimizing over one block of variables while fixing all others is

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Ego Vehicle Speed Estimation With Automotive Corner Radar Under Velocity Ambiguity Using Optimized MobileNetV3

open access: yesIEEE Access
Accurate estimation of ego vehicle speed is crucial for autonomous driving and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). However, conventional front-facing radar-based speed estimation methods suffer from challenges such as limited field of view ...
