As per the extremely high competitiveness among modern PMSM motor and drive manufacturers for attracting more customers to buy their products, a huge load has been added upon engineers for developing better products with better techniques. One of the most competitive aspects for adding attraction to the PMSM is the existence of a sensorless estimation ...

A note on Model Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) estimate with infinite variance
Statistica Neerlandica, 1994This paper discusses the estimation of a parameter in an autoregressive model with infinite variance. A recursive estimation procedure based on minimizing the prediction errors is provided. It is also shown that the model reference adaptive system estimate for an AR (1) model given in Aase (1983) is a special case.

The indirect field-oriented control (IFOC) technique brought on a renaissance in modern high-performance control of PWM inverter fed induction motor drives. This method requires the actual value of the rotor time constant which is used to calculate the magnitude and the position of the rotor flux.

In this paper a model reference adaptive system (MRAS) with sensorless flux observer for the control of induction machine is presented. The technique uses two models for the estimation of stator and rotor fluxes, stator currents, and rotor speed. The used observer as reference system does not contain rotor speed and is sensitive to motor parameters ...

Model Reference Adaptive Systems—A Survey (MRAS)—What is Possible and Why?
Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 1972This paper presents a survey of the model reference adaptive techniques and their applications for control and identification, based on the literature published since 1964 (171 references). Attention is focused on the basic properties and the various types of model reference adaptive systems (MRAS).
