Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Design Model Data Exchange Between Concurrent Engineering Facilities by Means of Model Transformation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The German Aerospace Center (DLR) is developing the software Virtual Satellite for use in their Concurrent Engineering Facility. Throughout the design process of a spacecraft the software supports engineers to store and manage the data and results of ...

Interplay of Martensitic Phase Transformation and Plastic Slip in Polycrystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Inspired by key experimental and analytical results regarding Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs), we propose a modelling framework to explore the interplay between martensitic phase transformations and plastic slip in polycrystalline materials, with an eye ...

Dynamic Modeling Approach in View of Vector Control and Behavior Analysis of a Multi-Three-Phase Star Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drive

open access: yesEnergies
In order to fully utilize the control degrees of freedom of a multi-three-phase-star smooth-pole permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), this paper first develops a modeling approach using a new matrix transformation method.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Using schema transformation pathways for data lineage tracing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
With the increasing amount and diversity of information available on the Internet, there has been a huge growth in information systems that need to integrate data from distributed, heterogeneous data sources. Tracing the lineage of the integrated data is

Relationships between UML Sequence Diagrams and the Topological Functioning Model for Backward Transformation

open access: yesApplied Computer Systems, 2014
The software system needs to be analyzed and designed before the program code is written. A Computation Independent Model (CIM) and a Platform Independent Model/ Platform Specific Model (PIM/PSM) from Model-Driven Architecture (MDA) will be partially ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

A Thermodynamic Constitutive Model for Stress Induced Phase Transformation in Shape Memory Alloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In this paper a thermodynamic constitutive model is developed for stress induced phase transformation in single crystalline and polycrystalline shape memory alloys (SMAs). Volume fractions of different martensite variants are chosen as internal variables

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...
