Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Measuring the Uncertainty of Predictions in Deep Neural Networks with Variational Inference
We present a novel approach for training deep neural networks in a Bayesian way. Compared to other Bayesian deep learning formulations, our approach allows for quantifying the uncertainty in model parameters while only adding very few additional ...

The Impact of a Regional Nuclear Conflict between India and Pakistan: Two Views
The severity of climatic effects of a regional nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan, involving the use of a hundred Hiroshima-scale nuclear weapons, is contested between two groups; Mills et al.

The operation of upstream reservoirs in mountainous regions fed by snowmelt is highly challenging. This is partly due to scarce information given harsh topographic conditions and a lack of monitoring stations. In this sense, snow observations from remote

Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Improving Re-Identification by Estimating and Utilizing Diverse Uncertainty Types for Embeddings
In most re-identification approaches, embedding vectors are compared to identify the best match for a given query. However, this comparison does not take into account whether the encoded information in the embedding vectors was extracted reliably from ...

Bayesian Model Averaging and Prior Sensitivity in Stochastic Frontier Analysis
This paper discusses Bayesian model averaging (BMA) in Stochastic Frontier Analysis and investigates inference sensitivity to prior assumptions made about the scale parameter of (in)efficiency. We turn our attention to the “standard” prior specifications

Probabilistic Models for the Shear Strength of RC Deep Beams
A new shear strength determination of reinforced concrete (RC) deep beams was proposed by using a statistical approach. The Bayesian–MCMC (Markov Chain Monte Carlo) method was introduced to establish a new shear prediction model and to improve seven ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
