Pediatric Oncology Nursing Competencies in Latin America and the Caribbean: A Scoping Review to Inform Practice, Education, and Research

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Nurses are central to cancer care for children and adolescents, yet no comprehensive synthesis has defined essential core competencies for pediatric oncology nursing (PON) practice internationally, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

Syllable-aware Neural Language Models: A Failure to Beat Character-aware Ones [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Syllabification does not seem to improve word-level RNN language modeling quality when compared to character-based segmentation. However, our best syllable-aware language model, achieving performance comparable to the competitive character-aware model ...

Prevalence and Trajectory of Household Material Hardship Among Children With Advanced Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Families of children with advanced cancer living in poverty experience inferior outcomes including poor parent mental health and worse child quality of life. Household material hardship (HMH: food, housing, transportation, and/or utility insecurity) is a modifiable poverty exposure—and potential intervention target—that ...

Violation of Leggett–Garg Inequality in Perceiving Cup-like Objects and Cognitive Contextuality

open access: yesEntropy
This paper is devoted to an experimental investigation of cognitive contextuality inspired by quantum contextuality research. This contextuality is related to, but not identical to context-sensitivity which is well-studied in cognitive psychology and ...

Inpatient Food Insecurity and Pediatric Hematology Oncology Hospitalization Outcomes

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Children with cancer and blood disorders are at risk for food insecurity (FI). We aimed to describe the association of inpatient food insecurity (IFI) and hospitalization outcomes among patients admitted to the pediatric hematology oncology service. Of 325 caregivers screened for IFI, 60 (18.6%) screened positive.

Watermarking Language Models through Language Models

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Artificial Intelligence
Watermarking the outputs of large language models (LLMs) is critical for provenance tracing, content regulation, and model accountability. Existing approaches often rely on access to model internals or are constrained by static rules and token-level perturbations.

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

Formal Model Engineering for Embedded Systems Using Real-Time Maude [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science, 2011
This paper motivates why Real-Time Maude should be well suited to provide a formal semantics and formal analysis capabilities to modeling languages for embedded systems.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
