ABSTRACT Background Patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis commonly experience reduced physical function, fatigue, poor sleep quality, and impaired health‐related quality of life. Intradialytic exercise has been proposed as a non‐pharmacological strategy to improve these outcomes.

ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

On Bounds for Moderate Deviations for Student's Statistic
Summary: Let \(X_1,X_2,\dots\) be independent random variables with zero means and finite variances. We prove lower bounds for a Cramér-type large deviation theorem for self-normalized sums which imply that the bounds obtained by \textit{B. Jing, Q. Shao} and \textit{Q. Wang} [Ann. Probab. 31, No. 4, 2167--2215 (2003; Zbl 1051.60031)] are sharp.

Let {X,Xn¯;n¯∈Z+d} be a sequence of i.i.d. real-valued random variables, and Sn¯=∑k¯≤n¯Xk¯, n¯∈Z+d. Convergence rates of moderate deviations are derived; that is, the rates of convergence to zero of certain tail probabilities of the partial sums are ...

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Moderate Deviations for Recursive Stochastic Algorithms [PDF]
We prove a moderate deviation principle for the continuous time interpolation of discrete time recursive stochastic processes. The methods of proof are somewhat different from the corresponding large deviation result, and in particular the proof of the upper bound is more complicated.

Cramér Moderate Deviations for a Supercritical Galton–Watson Process with Immigration
Consider a supercritical Galton–Watson process with immigration (Xn;n≥0). The Lotka–Nagaev estimator Xn+1Xn is a common estimator for the offspring mean.

Vicarious Radiometric Calibration of Ocean Color Bands for FY-3D/MERSI-II at Lake Qinghai, China
To calibrate the low signal response of the ocean color (OC) bands and test the stability of the Fengyun-3D (FY-3D)/Medium Resolution Spectral Imager II (MERSI-II), an absolute radiometric calibration field test of FY-3D/MERSI-II at the Lake Qinghai ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
