Evaluation of the modified carbapenem inactivation method for the detection of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae

Journal of Infection and Chemotherapy, 2018
Carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE) are increasing worldwide. Rapid and accurate detection of CPE is necessary for appropriate antimicrobial treatment and hospital infection control. However, CPE contains some strains that are difficult to detect depending on genotype and MIC value of carbapenem, and a detection method has not been ...

Evaluation of the modified carbapenem inactivation method and sodium mercaptoacetate-combination method for the detection of metallo-β-lactamase production by carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae

Journal of Microbiological Methods, 2017
We evaluated the effectiveness of carbapenem inactivation method (CIM) and modified CIM (mCIM). Our results indicated that mCIM with 4h incubation improved sensitivity and specificity for detecting carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae compared to CIM.

Comparison of the Modified-Hodge test, Carba NP test, and carbapenem inactivation method as screening methods for carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae

Journal of Microbiological Methods, 2016
We compared three screening methods for carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae. While the Modified-Hodge test and Carba NP test produced false-negative results for OXA-48-like and mucoid NDM producers, the carbapenem inactivation method (CIM) showed positive results for these isolates.

Performance of Carbapenemase Nordmann–Poirel, Modified Carbapenem Inactivation, and EDTA Carbapenem Inactivation Methods for Detecting Carbapenem-Resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolates

Microbial Drug Resistance, 2023
Infections caused by carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) are a major threat to public health. Timely detection of CRKP will help treat patients with appropriate antibiotics. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of the carbapenemase Nordmann–Poirel (CarbaNP), modified ...

Carbapenemase-Producing Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae from Bangkok, Thailand, and Their Detection by the Carba NP and Modified Carbapenem Inactivation Method Tests

Microbial Drug Resistance, 2018
The purpose of the study was to determine the epidemiology of carbapenemase genes among carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae and evaluate the Carba NP and modified carbapenem inactivation method (mCIM) tests in their detection.A total of 287 nonduplicated Enterobacteriaceae isolates, which were at least resistant to one of the carbapenems, were ...

Comparative Evaluation of the Modified Carbapenem Inactivation Method for Phenotypic Detection of Guiana Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamase-Type Carbapenemases in Enterobacterales

Laboratory Medicine, 2021
Abstract Objective We comparatively evaluated the performance of 3 phenotypic tests for the detection of carbapenemase production. Materials and Methods Carbapenemase production was evaluated using the modified Hodge test (MHT), the ...
