Evaluation of a modified QuEChERS method for analysis of mycotoxins in rice
Food Chemistry, 2014A simple and efficient QuEChERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, and Safe) sample preparation method was modified to provide good analytical results for 14 mycotoxins in rice. The method involved mixing sample with acidified aqueous acetonitrile, followed by salt-out liquid partitioning using MgSO4, NaCl, and citrate buffer salts.

Use of cyclodextrins as modifiers of fluorescence in the detection of mycotoxins
Food Additives & Contaminants: Part A, 2008Cyclodextrins, cyclic oligosaccharides composed of amylose subunits, are known to interact with mycotoxins. The interactions may be useful to analytical chemists by altering the properties of the mycotoxin of interest, namely the chromatographic properties, electrophoretic properties, fluorescence, or absorption of these fungal metabolites.

Occurrence of modified mycotoxins in Latin America: an up-to-date review
Mycotoxin ResearchThe Latin America region has a considerable extent of varied climate conditions: from tropical, subtropical, and warm temperate to temperate. Among the surface territory, different agricultural products are produced, making them an important food source for human consumption.

Food for thought about mycotoxins, organic and genetically modified foods.
2003AbstractFood safety is an issue that is becoming increasingly important in national and international debates about agriculture, nutrition and health. Food safety is a complex and many-faceted issue. Three of these facets are food-borne toxic metabolites of fungi (mycotoxins), organically grown foods (organic foods) and genetically modified foods (GM ...

Modified Fusarium mycotoxins unmasked: From occurrence in cereals to animal and human excretion
Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2015Modified mycotoxins formed by plants, fungi and during some food processing steps may remain undetected by analytical methods, potentially causing underestimation of mycotoxin exposure and risk. Furthermore, due to altered physico-chemical characteristics of modified mycotoxins, these compounds might have different gastro-intestinal absorption compared

Modified mycotoxins: An updated review on their formation, detection, occurrence, and toxic effects
Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2018Modified mycotoxins are metabolites that normally remain undetected during the testing for parent mycotoxin. These modified forms of mycotoxins can be produced by fungi or generated as part of the defense mechanism of the infected plant. In some cases, they are formed during food processing.

Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology
Plant-derived exosome-like nanoparticles (PENs) are crucial for intercellular communication. However, PEN-based transport of pathogenic fungal genes remains unclear. This study isolated and purified PENs from lane late navel orange citrus juice by following the sucrose gradient ultracentrifugation technique.

Acid modified attapulgite loaded with bacillomycin D for mold inhibition and mycotoxin removal
Food ChemistryMolds and mycotoxins pose severe threats to health. Bacillomycin D (BD) can effectively inhibit mold growth. Attapulgite (ATP) can provide a good carrier for antimicrobial agents. Natural ATP was acid-modified to obtain H-ATP. It was used to load BD to obtain a novel composite material (H-ATP-BD).
