Surfactant modified ultrafiltration for nitrate ion removal

Journal of Membrane Science, 1997
It is confirmed that small concentrations of cationic surfactant radically modify cellulose acetate membrane properties concerning nitrate ion rejection. This modification is produced by a strong adsorption of surfactant molecules on the membranes which acts on the Donnan potential difference.

Modified poly(phenylene oxide) membranes in ultrafiltration and micellar-enhanced ultrafiltration of organic compounds

Desalination, 2006
Poly(phenylene oxide) (PPO) membranes with sulfonic groups were prepared by two methods: plasma-initiated surface grafting of sodium styrenesulfonate or chemical sulfonation (with chlorosulfonic acid) of PPO, followed by membrane preparation from the modified material.

Chemically Modified Ultrafiltration Membranes for Enzyme Fixation

1996
Ultrafiltration is a widely used and well established separation process in which asymmetric porous membranes are commonly applied. Many a textbook is listing the wide array of different applications in various branches of industry and gives extensive advice on membrane preparation and on the pros and cons of the various membrane polymers (Cheryan ...

[Application of modified ultrafiltration to cardiac surgery in adults].

Kyobu geka. The Japanese journal of thoracic surgery, 1999
Modified Ultrafiltration (MUF) was developed for blood concentration and reduction of postoperative edema in cardiac surgery in children. Its beneficial effects on postoperative hemodynamics have been reported. We applied MUF to cardiac surgery in adults and evaluated its usefulness.

[Pitfall of modified ultrafiltration in pediatric cardiac surgery].

Kyobu geka. The Japanese journal of thoracic surgery, 2002
Since June, 1998, modified ultrafiltration (MUF) was performed for 92 consecutive children who underwent cardiac surgery using cardiopulmonary bypass, except those with atrial septal defect. Among 92 cases, MUF could not be completed in two cases because of the accident that many air bubbles were found in the arterial line of the CPB circuit.

[Efficacy of modified ultrafiltration in reoperation for valvular disease].

Kyobu geka. The Japanese journal of thoracic surgery, 2001
We evaluated the efficacy of modified ultrafiltration (MUF) in reoperation for valvular disease. Fourteen patients were divide into two groups consisting of a control group (n = 6) and a MUF group (n = 8). MUF was carried out for fifteen minutes immediately after the completion of cardiopulmonary bypass.
