Modified ultrafiltration improves cerebral metabolic recovery after circulatory arrest [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 1995
Modified ultrafiltration uses hemofiltration of the patient and bypass circuit after separation from cardiopulmonary bypass to reverse hemodilution and edema. This study investigated the effect of modified ultrafiltration on cerebral metabolic recovery after deep hypothermic circulatory arrest.

Surface characterization data for tethered polyacrylic acid layers synthesized on polysulfone surfaces. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The data presented are supplementary to an article [Kim et al., 2019] on synthesis and surface characterization of tethered polyacrylic acid (PAA) layers on polysulfone (PSf) film/membrane surfaces via atmospheric pressure plasma-induced graft ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Modification of Polysulfone Ultrafiltration Membranes via Addition of Anionic Polyelectrolyte Based on Acrylamide and Sodium Acrylate to the Coagulation Bath to Improve Antifouling Performance in Water Treatment

open access: yesMembranes, 2020
Surface modification of polysulfone ultrafiltration membranes was performed via addition of an anionic polymer flocculant based on acrylamide and sodium acrylate (PASA) to the coagulation bath upon membrane preparation by non-solvent induced phase ...

High-Performance γ-Al2O3 Multichannel Tube-Type Tight Ultrafiltration Membrane Using a Modified Sol-Gel Method

open access: yesMembranes, 2023
We introduced a modified sol-gel method using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as an additive to improve the permeability of γ-Al2O3 membranes by minimizing the thickness of the selective layer and maximizing the porosity.

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

Dextran fouling of polyethersulfone ultrafiltration membranesâCauses, extent and consequences [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In a recent paper [Susanto, Ulbricht, J. Membr. Sci. 266 (2005) 132], we showed that dextran does foul polyethersulfone (PES) ultrafiltration (UF) membranes by contact of the solution with the membrane surface without flux through the membrane.

High‐Throughput Exfoliation of Optoelectronic‐Grade MoS2 via Turbulent‐Flow Wet Jet Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable wet jet milling exfoliation method is demonstrated for producing optoelectronic‐grade MoS2 nanosheets using environmentally friendly ethyl cellulose in ethanol dispersion media. Guided by fluid dynamics modeling, this approach is optimized to achieve record‐high exfoliation throughput and concentration.
