A generalization of modular forms [PDF]

open access: yesInvolve, a Journal of Mathematics, 2012
We prove a transformation equation satisfied by a set of holomorphic functions with rational Fourier coefficients of cardinality [math] arising from modular forms. This generalizes the classical transformation property satisfied by modular forms with rational coefficients, which only applies to a set of cardinality [math] for a given weight.

Screening for Social Determinants of Health in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: A Point‐of‐Care Feasibility Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objectives Social determinants of health (SDoH) can impact outcomes but are not routinely screened for in US outpatient rheumatology clinics. This study determined the feasibility of routine point‐of‐care SDoH screening among patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and associated barriers and facilitators at the physician, care team, and ...

Modular Calabi-Yau fourfolds and connections to M-theory fluxes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
In this work, we study the local zeta functions of Calabi-Yau fourfolds. This is done by developing arithmetic deformation techniques to compute the factor of the zeta function that is attributed to the horizontal four-form cohomology.

Whole‐Blood RNA Sequencing Profiling of Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis Treated With Tofacitinib

open access: yesACR Open Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) often fail to respond to therapies, including JAK inhibitors (JAKi), and treatment allocation is made via a trial‐and‐error strategy. A comprehensive analysis of responses to JAKi, including tofacitinib, by RNA sequencing (RNAseq) would allow the discovery of transcriptomic markers with a two‐fold ...

A modularity criterion for Klein forms, with an application to modular forms of level 13

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2011
We find some modularity criterion for a product of Klein forms of the congruence subgroup $ _1(N)$ and, as its application, construct a basis of the space of modular forms for $ _1(13)$ of weight $2$. In the process we face with an interesting property about the coefficients of certain theta function from a quadratic form and prove it conditionally ...

Hyperoxia Induced Alteration of Chromatin Structure in Human Bone Marrow Derived Primary Mesenchymal Stromal Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Chromatin, which organizes DNA, changes its structure to adapt to stress like high oxygen levels (hyperoxia), which can damage cells. Researchers developed a technique to observe these changes and found variability in how different parts of chromatin remodel.

Retrotransposon Expression Is Upregulated in Adulthood and Suppressed during Regeneration of the Limb in the Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum)

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The axolotl's remarkable regenerative abilities decline with age, the causes may include the numerous repetitive elements within its genome. This study uncovers how Ty3 retrotransposons and coexpression networks involving muscle and immune pathways respond to aging and regeneration, suggesting that transposons respond to physiological shifts and may ...

Quadratic Minima and Modular Forms [PDF]

open access: yesExperimental Mathematics, 1998
We give upper bounds on the size of the gap between a non-zero constant term and the next non-zero Fourier coefficient of an entire level two modular form. We give upper bounds for the minimum positive integer represented by a level two even positive-definite quadratic form. These bounds extend partial results in part I.

Using a Supramolecular Approach to Engineer Modular Hydrogel Platforms for Culturing Protoplasts – from General Tissue Engineering to Cellular Agriculture

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Using supramolecular monomers, various hydrogel culture systems were formulated to culture protoplasts; including 2D, 2.5D, and 3D hydrogels. Depending on the culture platform, bioactive functionalization led to protoplast enlargement (2D and 2.5D) or plasmolysis (3D). This work shows the potential to modularly engineer synthetic platforms for cellular
