pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Zero-Sequence Current Suppression Strategy for a Common DC Bus OW-FPPMSM with Third-Harmonic Current Injection

open access: yesActuators
In the open-winding motor fed by a common DC bus, unbalanced inverter common-mode voltage (CMV), zero-sequence components of the permanent magnet flux linkage, and the PWM dead-time effect can induce a zero-sequence current (ZSC) through the inherent ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Modulation Index Estimation of Frequency and Phase Modulated Signals

open access: yesInternational Journal of Communications, Network and System Sciences, 2010
Modulation index estimation is important in the demodulation and recognition of Angle Modulation (AM) signals which include Frequency Modulation (FM) and Phase Modulation (PM) signals. In this paper, we firstly analyzed the AM signals with baseband modulation types, such as monotone, PSK, FSK, in the time and frequency domain.

Carrier dynamic overlapping switching frequency optimal pulse width modulation method for modular multilevel converters

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2018
Modular multilevel converters (MMCs) operate in the low modulation index region in many applications. However, when utilized at the low modulation index region, large harmonics appear in the output voltage, which degrade the performance of the MMC.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Detect-and-forward relaying aided cooperative spatial modulation for wireless networks

open access: yes, 2013
A novel detect-and-forward (DeF) relaying aided cooperative SM scheme is proposed, which is capable of striking a flexible tradeoff in terms of the achievable bit error ratio (BER), complexity and unequal error protection (UEP).

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
