Improvement of Relations between Moduli of Smoothness

Moscow University Mathematics Bulletin, 2023
Let \(\omega_\alpha (f,t)_p\) denote the modulus of smoothness of a function \(f\in L^p\), \(1\leq p \leq\infty\), of order \(\alpha > 0\), i.e., \[ \omega_\alpha (f,t)_p = \sup_{|h|\leq t}\left\| \sum_{\nu=0}^\infty (-1)^\nu \binom{\alpha}{\nu} f(x+(\alpha-\nu)h)\right\|_p. \] The authors provide several improvements between mixed fractional moduli of

Weighted Moduli of Smoothness

1987
We shall need weighted moduli of smoothness in some significant situations of which the following are examples: (a) Investigation of the K-functional of the pair of spaces: a weighted L p space and a weighted Sobolev space. (b) Relation between modulus of smoothness of a function and that of its derivative (which turns out to be a ...

A unified approach to inequalities for K-functionals and moduli of smoothness [PDF]

open access: yesMathematische Zeitschrift
The paper provides a detailed study of crucial inequalities for smoothness and interpolation characteristics in rearrangement invariant Banach function spaces. We present a unified approach based on Holmstedt formulas to obtain these estimates.

Uniform Moduli of Smoothness

2000
In this chapter we obtain a few results concerning the calculus and estimate of the main known uniform moduli of smoothness for some subclasses of functions of one or several variables. Section 2.5 contains applications of these results and Section 2.6 contains bibliographical remarks and open problems.

Moduli of Smoothness Related to the Laplace-Operator

Journal of Fourier Analysis and Applications, 2014
Let: \(\delta > 0\), \(m\) a natural number and \(f \in L_p\) (\(0 < p\leq+\infty\), equipped by the standard norm) a \(2\pi\)-periodic function of \(d \geq 1\) variables. In this paper a new class of moduli of smoothness is introduced. These moduli, which depend on the values of \(m\), \(d\) and \(\delta\), are named \(\omega_{m,d}(f,\delta)\).

LOG SMOOTH DEFORMATION AND MODULI OF LOG SMOOTH CURVES

International Journal of Mathematics, 2000
The aim of this paper is to define a reasonable moduli theory of log smooth curves which recovers the classical Deligne–Knudsen–Mumford moduli of pointed stable curves.
