Miniature and MOEMS flow sensors [PDF]

open access: yes15th AIAA Computational Fluid Dynamics Conference, 2001
Recent progress in the development of a miniature Laser Doppler Anemometer (LDA) and a micro optical shear stress sensor is described. Miniaturization of these sensors has been achieved with the use of integrated optics and micro fabrication techniques.

GaAs MOEMS Technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Many MEMS-based components require optical monitoring techniques using optoelectronic devices for converting mechanical position information into useful electronic signals. While the constituent piece-parts of such hybrid opto-MEMS components can be separately optimized, the resulting component performance, size, ruggedness and cost are substantially ...

The Designing of Magnetic‐Driven Micromirror for Portable FTIRs

open access: yesJournal of Sensors, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy is a widely used instrument to analyze and test different materials including organic and inorganic. Most of current commercial Fourier transform infrared spectrometers are limited in miniaturization and scanning velocity by their macroscopic components. MEMS FTIR spectroscopy is one of the important applications

Unsupervised Domain Adaptation for Facial Expression Recognition Using Generative Adversarial Networks

open access: yesComputational Intelligence and Neuroscience, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
In the facial expression recognition task, a good‐performing convolutional neural network (CNN) model trained on one dataset (source dataset) usually performs poorly on another dataset (target dataset). This is because the feature distribution of the same emotion varies in different datasets.

Improving Traffic State Prediction Model for Variable Speed Limit Control by Introducing Stochastic Supply and Demand

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Variable speed limit (VSL) is becoming recognized as an effective way to improve traffic throughput and road safety. In particular, methods based on traffic state prediction exhibit promising potential to prevent future traffic congestion and collisions.

Specialized directional beaming through a metalens and a typical application

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 7, Issue 1, Page 339-345, January 2018., 2018
Abstract The anomalous beaming effect of the periodic metallic corrugations functioning as a special case of kSP=2π/Λ is discussed and verified by means of both theoretical calculation and experimental probing. A metalens is designed on the basis of the special case. Unlike the conventional beaming of convergence or divergence, the metalens can realize

Reversal Asymmetry of Reciprocal Metasurface Enables Ultra‐Compact Varifocal Reflective Lens

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 1, 8 January 2026.
The possibility of breaking the reversal symmetry of a lens without violating reciprocity is demonstrated. The freedom provided is utilized to realize an ultra‐compact reflective varifocal lens‐doublet based on a flat metasurface lens and a piezoelectric actuated micromirror.
