Characteristics of moisture content variation of loess under seepage and its influence on tunnel engineering

open access: yesShuiwen dizhi gongcheng dizhi, 2021
The increase of moisture content after excavation of water-rich loess tunnel has a great influence on the construction of tunnel. Many discriminant standards of engineering measures based on loess moisture content were established by predecessors, but ...

On Moisture Content of Rice : 2. Moisture content with reference to the methods for measuring moisture content in relation to the grain texture of rice.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Crop Science, 1968
To examine the factors in different moisture content of rice according to rice grain texture, the studies were undertaken to clarify the relationship between the moisture content measured by the several drying methods at different temperatures and the grain texture of several varieties. The results are summarized as follows. 1. Globe of fat, crystal of

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Isothermal adsorption modelling of Pupuru flour

open access: yesCroatian Journal of Food Science and Technology, 2020
The amount of moisture adsorbed by stored food products usually varies with temperature and relative humidity at a constant pressure. This research was carried out to determine the sorption isotherm behaviour of pupuru flour in the temperature and water ...

THE EFFECTS OF WATER CONTENT VARIATION ON ADHESION FACTOR OF PILE FOUNDATION IN EXPANSIVE SOIL [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Seasonal change causes variations in soil moisture content. On expansive soil, this condition influences soil moisture content in the active zone, which is approximately in five meters depth.

The biogenic content of process streams from mechanical-biological treatment plants producing solid recovered fuel. Do the manual sorting and selective dissolution determination methods correlate? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The carbon emissions trading market has created a need for standard methods for the determination of biogenic content (chi(B)) in solid recovered fuels (SRF).

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Experimental Study on Determining Unsaturated Property of Soil

open access: yes, 1980
This paper deals with the experimental study of hydraulic properties of unsaturated soil. In treating unsaturated zone, a great deal more data are required than are required for the saturated zone, but these properties of soils must be known to apply the
