Mechanisms of survival, responses and sources of Salmonella in low-moisture environments [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2013
Some Enterobacteriaceae possess the ability to survive in low-moisture environments for extended periods of time. Many of the reported food-borne outbreaks associated with low-moisture foods involve Salmonella contamination. The control of Salmonella in low-moisture foods and their production environments represents a significant challenge for all food

Moisture Accumulation and Its Impact on the Thermal Performance of Pipe Insulation for Chilled Water Pipes in High Performance Buildings

open access: yes, 2012
Mechanical pipe insulation systems are commonly applied to cold piping surfaces in most industrial and commercial buildings in order to limit the heat losses and prevent water vapor condensation on the pipe exterior surfaces.

Powder Optimization Strategies for Binder Jetting Printing of BaTiO3 and Ba0,6Sr0,4TiO3 Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder optimization is investigated to enable binder jetting of BaTiO3 and Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 ferroelectric ceramics. The antagonistic relationship between flowability and binder compatibility is addressed through binder impregnation of granulated powders and fumed silica addition to fine powders.

The modulation of oceanic moisture transport by the hemispheric annular modes

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2014
Leaving aside the contribution made by recycling, it is the main oceanic moisture sources that are responsible for most of the precipitation that falls on the continents.

Large‐Scale Dynamics and Moisture Sources of the Precipitation Over the Western Tibetan Plateau in Boreal Winter

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, 2020
One of the heaviest precipitations over the Asian continent in winter is located in the western Tibetan Plateau (TP). In this study, the dynamics of the precipitation over the western TP (PWTP) in boreal winter and its interannual variability are ...

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Experimental Study on Determining Unsaturated Property of Soil

open access: yes, 1980
This paper deals with the experimental study of hydraulic properties of unsaturated soil. In treating unsaturated zone, a great deal more data are required than are required for the saturated zone, but these properties of soils must be known to apply the
