Record-breaking rain falls at Greenland summit controlled by warm moist-air intrusion

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2022
On 14 August 2021, rain fell on the peak of Greenland for the first time on record. The atmospheric circulation and water vapour transport responsible for the rain were investigated.

Where does the link between atmospheric moisture transport and extreme precipitation matter?

open access: yesWeather and Climate Extremes, 2023
Atmospheric moisture transport is the primary component of the atmospheric branch of the water cycle, and its anomalies strongly influence drought and precipitation extremes. We utilised the full geographical and temporal spectrum of the ERA-5 reanalysis

Some properties of strong solutions to nonlinear heat and moisture transport in multi-layer porous structures

open access: yes, 2011
The present paper deals with mathematical models of heat and moisture transport in layered building envelopes. The study of such processes generates a system of two doubly nonlinear evolution partial differential equations with appropriate initial and ...

Characterization of Clinical Phenotype to Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein Concentrations in Alexander Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the concentration of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma in Alexander disease (AxD) and whether GFAP levels are predictive of disease phenotypes. Methods CSF and plasma were collected (longitudinally when available) from AxD participants and non‐AxD controls.

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Evaluation of atmospheric moisture transport to the Tibetan Plateau from 33 CMIP6 models

open access: yesnpj Climate and Atmospheric Science
Atmospheric moisture transport is pivotal in regulating water resources over the Tibetan Plateau (TP). With the growing concerns about climate change, understanding the evolution of atmospheric moisture transport over the TP has become increasingly ...

An estimate of energy dissipation due to soil-moisture hysteresis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Processes of infiltration, transport and outflow in unsaturated soil necessarily involve the dissipation of energy through various processes. Accounting for these energetic processes can contribute to modelling hydrological and ecological systems.
