Protective effect of moisturizers on photoaging

Photodermatology, Photoimmunology & Photomedicine, 2017
Moisturizers are commonly used cosmetic products. In particular, physiological lipid mixtures (PLM) or pseudoceramide-containing PLM are known to enhance the recovery of the barrier function are widely used (1, 2). We previously reported that long-term exposure of suberythemal dose of ultraviolet (UV) radiation can damage the epidermal lipid layer ...

Effects of the moisture on CLBO

Advanced Solid State Lasers, 1997
The effects of the moisture on CLBO have been investigated. CLBO hydrated at high humidity condition, resulting in 5B2O3·Cs2O·8H2O. The surface hydration seems to induce the cracking and the refractive index change in CLBO. The thermal annealing is effective to restore the changed index.

Effect of Pressure on Moisture Transfer During Moisture Adsorption

Drying Technology, 1995
ABSTRACT A set of coupled heat, mass, and pressure transfer equations was used to describe the moisture adsorption process in gmn kernels. The finite element method was used to solve the system of equations. The technique was applied to analyze the temperature, moisture, and pressure distribution in a barley kernel during soaking with steep water.

Effects of Moisture in Compaction of Particulate Material

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1971
By using an ideal particulate system of crystalline sodium chloride and three liquids—water, decahydronaphthalene, and light liquid paraffin—the role of moisture in the compaction process was investigated. Interrelated effects of liquid at the die wall boundary and within the compact are discussed.

The Effect of Moisture and Moisture Gradients on the Calendering of Paper

Trans. of the VIth Fund. Res. Symp. Oxford, 1977, 1977
Machine calendering at conventional temperatures and line pressures has been compared with calendering at elevated temperatures, and calendering with an induced z-directional gradient in web moisture content . Print uniformity and web strengths are considerably improved by the latter calendering method, while rub off, set off, and print through remain ...

The Effect of Moisture on the Hydrolysis of Basic Salts

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2016
AbstractA great deal of information exists concerning the hydration of ions in bulk water. Much less noticeable, but equally ubiquitous is the hydration of ions holding on to several water molecules in nanoscopic pores or in natural air at low relative humidity.

Effect of moisture and aging on gutta-percha

Journal of Endodontics, 1992
The purpose of this article was to study the plasticizing effect of controlled levels of different humidities on native and commercial gutta-percha samples. It was expected that the results might provide the practicing endodontist with invaluable insight into the mechanical properties of commercial gutta-percha cones (i.e. retrievability, malleability,

Effects of moisturization on epidermal homeostasis and differentiation

Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, 2006
Moisturizers are commonly used for routine skin care. This study assessed the effects of a moisturizer on barrier function, epidermal architecture, keratinocyte proliferation, and physiological regulation of the epidermis in photoaged but otherwise normal skin. Fifteen women with moderately photoaged forearms were treated twice a day for 4 weeks with a

Effect of moisture sorption on the performance of crospovidone

International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2016
Crospovidone is a commonly used tablet disintegrant. However, the synthetic disintegrant has been known to be hygroscopic and high moisture content in crospovidone used could exert deleterious effects on tablets formulated with it. The objective of this study was to elicit a better understanding between crospovidone-water interaction and its effect on ...

Moisture effects on the magnetic state in polyaniline

Physical Review B, 1991
Through magnetic-susceptibility measurements on samples of thermally aged polyaniline in the emeraldine-base form, Pauli and Curie susceptibilities are shown to depend sensitively on the presence of moisture. It is suggested that the same spin can contribute either to the Pauli susceptibility or Curie susceptibility depending upon its environment, or ...
