Effect of soil moisture on chlorine deposition

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2014
The effect of soil moisture on chlorine (Cl(2)) deposition was examined in laboratory chamber experiments at high Cl(2) exposures by measuring the concentration of chloride (Cl(-)) in soil columns. Soil mixtures with varying amounts of clay, sand, and organic matter and with moisture contents up to 20% (w/w) were exposed to ≈3×10(4)ppm Cl(2) vapor. For

Effect of Moisture on the Pollutant Concentration Measurement

Air & Waste, 1994
The effects of removing moisture from gaseous samples on the measurement of pollutant concentration were studied. Simple mathematical analysis was conducted to derive the formula for correcting the measured results. It was found that the error increases with increase in relative humidity or increase in temperature.

Effect of moisturizers on epidermal barrier function

Clinics in Dermatology, 2012
A daily moisturizing routine is a vital part of the management of patients with atopic dermatitis and other dry skin conditions. The composition of the moisturizer determines whether the treatment strengthens or deteriorates the skin barrier function, which may have consequences for the outcome of the dermatitis.

Effect of moisture on polyether impression materials

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1974
The effect of moisture contamination on the dimensional accuracy of polyether impression materials is determined. The effect that moisture contamination might have on the dimensional accuracy of a commercial polyether impression material was studied.

Effects of moisture distribution on measurement of moisture content of dried corn

Acta Alimentaria, 2006
Drying yellow-dent field corn from harvest moisture levels to safe storage levels is a major cost for producers. This cost can be minimized by precise control of the final moisture content through feed-forward or feedback control. One of the difficulties in achieving control of corn drying is the inaccuracy of dielectric moisture measurements due to ...

Effect of soil moisture levels on nitrification

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1968
Nitrification of 100 p.p.m. added NH4-N was studied in two soils of Georgia. Moisture levels tried were equivalent to those equilibrated at soil tension of 15, 8, 4, 2, 0.3, 0.0 bars on the release curve and a flooded condition. Moisture was applied as crushed ice in a cold room at −5 °C.

The Action and Effect of Moisture in a Dielectric Field

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1922
In studying the subject of dielectric loss in electric cables the author has become convinced that the moisture content of the dielectric is the dominant factor determining the a-c. resistance. Evershead's explanation of the action of moisture in a fibrous dielectric seems plausible but leads to the conclusion that moisture causes a decrease of a-c ...

Low Moisture Extrusion: Effects of Cooking Moisture on Product Characteristics

Journal of Food Science, 1985
ABSTRACT A commercial Creusot‐Loire BC‐105 twin‐screw expanded dry pet food extruder was operated to provide extruded moistures between 7.9% and 12.4% at constant product density. Low moisture extrusion decreased product uniformity 45% and product shape roundness by 70%.
