Timely extraction of the first permanent molars severely affected in mixed dentition.

open access: yesJournal of Oral Research, 2019
The aim of this study was to establish a guide for general dentists that allow identifying the ideal moment to extract the first permanent molars with poor prognosis, in the hope of obtaining a spontaneous closure of space, regarding that the first ...

Sequelae of premature loss of lower permanent molars on developing occlusion during the mixed dentition period—A radiographic evaluation

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2020
When planning extraction of teeth with poor prognosis especially lower first permanent molars, it is important to consider the timing of tooth removal and its effect on future occlusion to avoid interventions.

Impact of Surface Roughness on the Yield Drop of Hot‐Rolled AZX311 Mg Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Rough‐surfaced AZX311 Mg alloy samples have significantly lower yield strength than polished ones due to stress concentrators forming at V‐notch irregularities. Surface profilometry confirms higher Ra values for rough samples. Highest hardness values were observed near scratched surfaces, indicating strain localization effects near the rough surface ...

THE FIRST PERMANENT MOLAR [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1922
In 1887, Dr. Andrieu of Paris read a paper before the section on dental and oral surgery of the Ninth International Medical Congress, advocating the extraction of the first permanent molars. His argument was based on the fact that 75 per cent, of these teeth decay.

Comparative Wear and Friction Analysis of Sliding Surface Materials for Hydrostatic Bearing under Oil Supply Failure Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Hydrostatic bearings excel in high‐precision applications, but their performance hinges on a continuous external supply. This study evaluates various material combinations for sliding surfaces to mitigate damage during supply failures or misalignment and to discover the most effective materials identified for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of

Partitioning and Coarsening Dynamics of Precipitate‐Strengthened Cr‐Si Alloys: The Role of Ge, Pt, and Mo

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The microstructure of Cr‐rich Cr‐Si‐alloys is maintained by alloying with Ge, Pt, and Mo. The effects of these elements on A15‐phase fraction, partitioning, microstructural stability, grain size, and hardness are combinable. Molybdenum is found to be the most promising alloying element for microstructural stability during high‐temperature exposure.
