High Sensitivity Flexible Capacitive Pressure Sensor Using Polydimethylsiloxane Elastomer Dielectric Layer Micro-Structured by 3-D Printed Mold

open access: yesIEEE Journal of the Electron Devices Society, 2017
3-D printing is used to fabricate mold for micro-structuring the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) elastomeric dielectric layer in capacitive flexible pressure sensors.

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

"Pudding mold" band drives large thermopower in Na$_x$CoO$_2$ [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Phys. Soc. Jpn., Vol.76, No.8, p.083707 (2007), selected as "Papers of Editors' Choice", 2007
In the present study, we pin down the origin of the coexistence of the large thermopower and the large conductivity in Na$_x$CoO$_2$. It is revealed that not just the density of states (DOS), the effective mass, nor the band width, but the peculiar {\it shape} of the $a_{1g}$ band referred to as the "pudding mold" type, which consists of a dispersive ...

Building dampness and mold in European homes in relation to climate, building characteristics and socio‐economic status: The European Community Respiratory Health Survey ECRHS II

open access: yesIndoor Air: International Journal of Indoor Environment and Health, 2017
We studied dampness and mold in homes in relation to climate, building characteristics and socio-economic status (SES) across Europe, for 7127 homes in 22 centers. A subsample of 3118 homes was inspected.

The immunological interface: dendritic cells as key regulators in metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) affects nearly one‐third of the global population and poses a significant risk of progression to cirrhosis or liver cancer. Here, we discuss the roles of hepatic dendritic cell subtypes in MASLD, highlighting their distinct contributions to disease initiation and progression, and their ...

Can robots mold soft plastic materials by shaping depth images? [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Can robots mold soft plastic materials by shaping depth images? The short answer is no: current day robots can't. In this article, we address the problem of shaping plastic material with an anthropomorphic arm/hand robot, which observes the material with a fixed depth camera. Robots capable of molding could assist humans in many tasks, such as cooking,

Experiments on transformation thermodynamics: Molding the flow of heat [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 110, 195901 (2013), 2012
It has recently been shown theoretically that the time-dependent heat conduction equation is form-invariant under curvilinear coordinate transformations. Thus, in analogy to transformation optics, fictitious transformed space can be mapped onto (meta-)materials with spatially inhomogeneous and anisotropic heat-conductivity tensors in the laboratory ...

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.

Stochastic resin transfer molding process [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM/ASA J. Uncertainty Quantification, 5(1) (2017), pp. 1110-1135, 2016
We consider one-dimensional and two-dimensional models of the stochastic resin transfer molding process, which are formulated as random moving boundary problems. We study their properties, analytically in the one-dimensional case and numerically in the two-dimensional case.

Characterization of fungal carbonyl sulfide hydrolase belonging to clade D β‐carbonic anhydrase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Here, we performed a functional analysis of the fungal enzymes belonging to clade D of the β‐class carbonic anhydrase family (β‐D‐CA). The β‐D‐CAs in the basidiomycete Gloeophyllum trabeum and the ascomycete Trichoderma harzianum showed very low activity in the hydration of CO2 but exhibited high activity in the hydrolysis of carbonyl sulfide (COS ...
