CAE/CAD in injection molding, blow molding, and foam molding—the shortest way to mold design

open access: yesAdvances in Polymer Technology, 1985
AbstractOne of the basic prerequisites for rational and high quality production of plastic parts is a tool layout tailored to the production process. To date, both design and construction have generally been based on values acquired by experience. This first, necessitates highly qualified personnel and second, involves what is frequently time consuming

Effect of Selenium on Control of Postharvest Gray Mold of Tomato Fruit and the Possible Mechanisms Involved

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2016
Selenium (Se) has important benefits for crop growth and stress tolerance at low concentrations. However, there is very little information on antimicrobial effect of Se against the economically important fungus Botrytis cinerea.

Imaging of aluminium and amyloid β in neurodegenerative disease

open access: yesHeliyon, 2020
Objectives: Recent research has confirmed the presence of aluminium in human brain tissue. Quantitative analyses suggest increased brain aluminium content in a number of neurodegenerative diseases including familial Alzheimer's disease, congophilic ...

Investigation of Non-Sinusoidal Oscillator Driven by Double Servomotors for Continuous Casting Mold

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
To improve the surface quality and casting speed of the slab further, a new type mold oscillator synchronously driven by double servomotors was proposed in this paper. The experimental prototype was designed and manufactured.

The multiple roles of the NlpC_P60 peptidase family in mycobacteria – an underexplored target for antimicrobial drug discovery

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The NlpC_P60 superfamily of peptidases is recognised by its key role in bacterial cell wall homeostasis. Recently, studies have also described the involvement of NlpC_P60‐like enzymes in bacterial competitive mechanisms and pathogenesis across several lineages.

Mold Allergens in Respiratory Allergy: From Structure to Therapy

open access: yesAllergy Asthma and Immunology Research, 2015
Allergic reactions to fungi were described 300 years ago, but the importance of allergy to fungi has been underestimated for a long time. Allergens from fungi mainly cause respiratory and skin symptoms in sensitized patients.

Proposal of a new solution for mold temperature monitoring

open access: yesMetalurgija, 2021
The paper deals with the proposal of a new solution for monitoring the mold temperature. The mold is used for the production of thermosetting products by pressing technology. At present, the mold temperature is measured separately at sixteen locations of

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...

The food seeking behavior of slime mold: a macroscopic approach [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Starting from a particle model we derive a macroscopic aggregation-diffusion equation for the evolution of slime mold under the assumption of propagation of chaos in the large particle limit. We analyze properties of the macroscopic model in the stationary case and study the behavior of the slime mold between food sources.

Bronchitis and Its Associated Risk Factors in First Nations Children

open access: yesChildren, 2017
Respiratory diseases, such as bronchitis and pneumonia, are common in First Nations children in Canada. The objectives are to determine prevalence and associated risk factors of bronchitis in children 6–17 years old residing in two reserve communities ...
