Cooling of molecular ion beams [PDF]
An overview of the use of stored ion beams and phase space cooling (electron cooling) is given for the field of molecular physics. Emphasis is given to interactions between molecular ions and electrons studied in the electron cooler: dissociative recombination and, for internally excited molecular ions, electron-induced ro-vibrational cooling ...

High Sensitivity Broadband Transient Absorption Spectroscopy Of Molecular Beams [PDF]
Molecules with ultrafast dynamics inherently have broad spectral features and modeling ultrafast spectroscopy data is a complex art. The complexity is reduced in the gas phase, however most ultrafast spectroscopies are limited to high-density samples ...

A compact molecular beam machine [PDF]
We have developed a compact, low cost, modular, crossed molecular beam machine. The new apparatus utilizes several technological advancements in molecular beams valves, ion detection, and vacuum pumping to reduce the size, cost, and complexity of a molecular beam apparatus.

A full dimensional Potential Energy Surface (PES) of the CO + N2 system has been generated by extending an approach already reported in the literature and applied to N2-N2 (Cappelletti et al., 2008), CO2-CO2 (Bartolomei et al., 2012), and CO2-N2 ...

Ultrafast Spectroscopy With Frequency Combs: Enabling New Measurements Of Dilute Species In Molecular Beams [PDF]
Initially developed as a tool for metrology, frequency combs are most often used for precision, frequency-resolved spectroscopy. The utility of frequency combs in ultrafast spectroscopy is just beginning to be explored.

DECAY DYNAMICS IN MOLECULAR BEAMS [PDF]
The phenomenon of power law decays in molecular beams is reviewed. The transition from a canonical to a microcanonical description of the decay is analyzed, and the appearance of the power law decay derived. Deviations from a power law often contain information on parallel competing processes.

Molecular beams with a tunable velocity [PDF]
The merging of molecular beam methods with those of accelerator physics has yielded new tools to manipulate the motion of molecules. Over the last few years, decelerators, lenses, bunchers, traps, and storage rings for neutral molecules have been demonstrated. Molecular beams with a tunable velocity and with a tunable width of the velocity distribution

Molecular beam epitaxy of KTaO3
Strain-engineering is a powerful means to tune the polar, structural, and electronic instabilities of incipient ferroelectrics. KTaO3 is near a polar instability and shows anisotropic superconductivity in electron-doped samples. Here, we demonstrate growth of high-quality KTaO3 thin films by molecular-beam epitaxy.
