Molecular Marker Techniques and Genotypic Characterization Approaches in Plant Breeding
Plant breeding, often known as the science of plant development, is the study and practice of modifying a plant’s genetic makeup through a variety of breeding techniques to produce higher-quality, more prolific, and more resistant to harsh environmental ...

Future breeding for organic and low-input agriculture: integrating values and modern breeding tools for improving robustness [PDF]
Organic production and also the attention for plant breeding for organic agriculture is still increasing in Europe. The question often raised is how much does plant breeding for the organic sector differ from modern plant breeding and does a ban on GMO ...

Discriminant analysis of principal components and pedigree assessment of genetic diversity and population structure in a tetraploid potato panel using SNPs [PDF]
The reported narrow genetic base of cultivated potato (Solanum tuberosum) can be expanded by the introgression of many related species with large genetic diversity.

Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

A telomere-to-telomere genome of wild soybean with resistance to soybean cyst nematode X12
The soybean cyst nematode (SCN) is one of the most destructive pests affecting soybean production worldwide. Wild soybean (Glycine soja) germplasm offers valuable genetic resources for developing SCN-resistant cultivars.

Modern approaches for breeding high quality apples with durable resistance to scab, powdery mildew and fire blight [PDF]
New methods to allow for more precise selection of tree and fruit characters in breeding programmes were developed in recent years. Marker-assisted selection (MAS) is common practice in the ACW apple breeding programme at Wädenswil.

Sexual and geographic dimorphism in northern rockhopper penguins breeding in the South Atlantic Ocean [PDF]
The Endangered northern rockhopper penguin Eudyptes moseleyi, like all penguins, is monomorphic, making sex determination of individuals in the field challenging.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
