Primordial Star Formation under Far-ultraviolet radiation

open access: yes, 2000
Thermal and chemical evolution of primordial gas clouds irradiated with far-ultraviolet (FUV; < 13.6 eV) radiation is investigated. In clouds irradiated by intense FUV radiation, sufficient hydrogen molecules to be important for cooling are never formed.

Chemically Doped Conductive Polymers for Wearable Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Among conductive polymers, poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), polyaniline (PANI), and polypyrrole (PPy) are the most studied and applied. Chemical doping significantly boosts intrinsic conductivity and mechanical robustness.

Turbulent Pressure Heats Gas and Suppresses Star Formation in Galactic Bar Molecular Clouds

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The Central Molecular Zone (CMZ) of the Milky Way is fed by gas inflows from the Galactic disk along almost radial trajectories aligned with the major axis of the Galactic bar.

Star Formation in Transient Molecular Clouds

open access: yes, 2003
We present the results of a numerical simulation in which star formation proceeds from an initially unbound molecular cloud core. The turbulent motions, which dominate the dynamics, dissipate in shocks leaving a quiescent region which becomes ...

High-velocity Molecular Clouds in M83

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
High-velocity clouds (HVCs), which are gas clouds moving at high velocity relative to the galactic disk, may play a critical role in galaxy evolution, potentially supplying gas to the disk and triggering star formation.

Kinematics of H I Envelopes Associated with Molecular Clouds

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We investigate the evolution of molecular clouds through the kinematics of their atomic hydrogen (H I ) envelopes, using ^12 CO and 21 cm emission to trace the molecular and atomic gas, respectively.
