Atomic and Molecular Data

1988
The Commission has, since its inception, been devoted to the continually increasing needs of astronomy and astrophysics for reliable atomic and molecular data a) for diagnostic interpretation of astronomical observations, and b) for support of theoretical modelling of astrophysical situations. At the 1985 Delhi General Assembly, the Commission reviewed

Similarity screening of molecular data sets

Journal of Computer-Aided Molecular Design, 1992
Three-dimensional (3D)-database searches are now being widely applied to determine potential new active molecules. Many structural data sets obtained as a result of these searches are still large in size. In this paper we apply molecular similarity calculations as a rapid method to screen two such data sets.

The applications of big data in molecular diagnostics

Expert Review of Molecular Diagnostics, 2019
Introduction: Big Data technologies instilled an informational perspective to our understanding of the world. However, fundamental issues such as the management and storage of data can create privacy concerns. Heterogeneous types of data pose challenges in reproducibility and standardization.

Analysis of recombination in molecular sequence data

2008

Structural mining of molecular biology data

IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Magazine, 2001
One method for discovering knowledge in structural data is the identification of common substructures, or subgraphs, within the data. Once identified, these substructures can be used to simplify the data by replacing instances of the substructure with a pointer to the newly discovered concept. The discovered substructure concepts allow abstraction over

An XML repository for molecular sequence data

Proceedings IEEE International Symposium on Bio-Informatics and Biomedical Engineering, 2002
The emergence of the Extensible Markup Language (XML) as a new standard for data representation and exchange on the World Wide Web has created a new information revolution. Several proposals have been made to formulate molecular sequences in XML, however none of them mentioned the efficient storage and management of the resultant XML sequence data ...

Atomic and Molecular Data

1994
In recent years the interaction between astrophysics and atomic physics has entered a new stage. On one hand, increasingly powerful, high resolution astronomical spectrometers and other observational instruments, especially those for recent space and astronomy missions, have created vastly increased demands for more detailed and more accurate data on ...

Molecular data processing

1992
Abstract Macromolecular data processing is an extensive topic, which has been developed considerably in recent years with the advent of commercially available area detectors and the new Laue methods utilising synchrotron radiation. Rather than giving what could only be a superficial overview of all aspects of data processing, I have ...

Atomic and Molecular Data

1985
As the pool of fundamental data available to astronomers continues to increase, the question of how best to promote the necessary cross-discipline interaction becomes increasingly important. Commission 14 has traditionally played an important role in this activity, by publishing triennial reports in the IAU Proceedings, as well as by responding to more
