Scalable Similarity Search for Molecular Descriptors [PDF]
Similarity search over chemical compound databases is a fundamental task in the discovery and design of novel drug-like molecules. Such databases often encode molecules as non-negative integer vectors, called molecular descriptors, which represent rich information on various molecular properties.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Vertex-degree-based molecular structure descriptors of benzenoid systems and phenylenes [PDF]
Several recently published papers report expressions for various vertex-degree-based molecular structure descriptors of benzenoid systems and phenylenes. We deduce here the general expression for these descriptors, and show that a simple and generally

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

On Relationships of Eigenvalue–Based Topological Molecular Descriptors
Three eigenvalue-based topological molecular descriptors are compared using several datasets of alkanes. Two of them are well-known and frequently employed in various QSPR/QSAR investigations, and third-one is a newly derived whose predictive potential is yet to be proven. The relations among them are found and discussed.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
