Smart desalination systems coupled with green hydrogen production based on IoT [PDF]
Keeping water safe and creating clean energy are very important for the future. As cities get bigger, people increase, and the weather changes more, water is becoming harder to find.

Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Hybrid molecular and continuum fluid dynamics models for micro and nanofluidic flows [PDF]
From molecules to living organisms and from atoms to planets a variety of physical phe- nomena operate at different temporal and spatial scales. Understanding the nature of those phenomena is crucial for advancing new technologies in many disciplines ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Free energy profile for unwrapping outer superhelical turn of CENP-A nucleosome
Eukaryotic genome is packaged in a nucleus in the form of chromatin. The fundamental structural unit of the chromatin is the protein-DNA complex, nucleosome, where DNA of about 150 bp is wrapped around a histone core almost twice.

Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...
