Understanding and measuring mechanical signals in the tumor stroma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review discusses cancer‐associated fibroblast subtypes and their functions, particularly in relation to extracellular matrix production, as well as the development of 3D models to study tumor stroma mechanics in vitro. Several quantitative techniques to measure tissue mechanical properties are also described, to emphasize the diagnostic and ...

Piezo1 channels enhance anabolic signaling activation induced by electrical stimulation of cultured myotubes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
By using an electrical pulse stimulation (EPS)‐based in vitro exercise model and chemical activation/inhibition of mechanosensitive Piezo1 channels, we explored changes in protein synthetic response in cultured C2C12 myotubes. Our data showed that application of Piezo1 activator (Yoda1) during EPS significantly enhances the rate of protein synthesis in

Bioengineering facets of the tumor microenvironment in 3D tumor models: insights into cellular, biophysical and biochemical interactions

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The tumor microenvironment is a dynamic, multifaceted complex system of interdependent cellular, biochemical, and biophysical components. Three‐dimensional in vitro models of the tumor microenvironment enable a better understanding of these interactions and their impact on cancer progression and therapeutic resistance.

Growth and combined experimental and quantum chemical study of glycyl-L-Valine crystal

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Glycyl-L-Valine (GLV) crystals were grown using distilled water as the solvent at room temperature by solution growth technique. Powder X-ray diffraction confirms the crystalline quality of GLV crystal.

Physical conditions and molecular chemistry of the Central Molecular Zone

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2006
We discuss the physical conditions of the different kineniatical components of the Central Molecular Zone. In particular we compare the properties of the clouds moving with in elongated orbits along the Galactic bar with those of the well-known Galactic center ring (GCR) clouds (Sgr A, Sgr B2,...).

A pathway towards proper modeling of physical properties

open access: yes, 2018
Theoretical concepts in condensed matter physics are typically verified and also developed by exploiting computer simulations mostly in simple models. Predictions based on these usually isotropic models are often at odds with measurement results obtained

Possible role of human ribonuclease dicer in the regulation of R loops

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
R loops play an important role in regulating key cellular processes such as replication, transcription, centromere stabilization, or control of telomere length. However, the unscheduled accumulation of R loops can cause many diseases, including cancer, and neurodegenerative or inflammatory disorders. Interestingly, accumulating data indicate a possible

Analytical evaluation of relativistic molecular integrals. III. Computation and results for molecular auxiliary functions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
This work describes the fully analytical method for calculation of the molecular integrals over Slater-type orbitals with non-integer principal quantum numbers. These integrals are expressed through relativistic molecular auxiliary functions derived in our previous paper [Phys. Rev. E 91, 023303 (2015)].
