Atomic and Molecular Physics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Atoms are the basic building blocks of any material system: their physics rules over the behaviour of basically everything. Therefore, even if we limit ourselves to just consider what is found on our planet, the atomistic picture is really needed to understand at the most fundamental level the physical behaviour of organic and inorganic matter ...

Microscopic Clustering in Light Nuclei

open access: yes, 2018
We review recent experimental and theoretical progress in understanding the microscopic details of clustering in light nuclei. We discuss recent experimental results on $\alpha$-conjugate systems, molecular structures in neutron-rich nuclei, and ...

On multidimensional solitons and their legacy in contemporary Atomic, Molecular and Optical physics

open access: yes, 2016
This viewpoint relates to an article by B A Malomed, D Mihalache, F Wise, and L Torner (2005 J. Opt. B: Quantum Semiclass. Opt. 7 R53–R72) and was published as part of a series of viewpoints celebrating 50 of the most influential papers published in the ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

CLASSICAL 1D LINEAR MODELS FOR INFRARED ABSORPTION AND ESTIMATES FOR THE VIBRATIONAL AMPLITUDES AND ENERGY OF NaCl IONIC COMPOUND [PDF]

open access: yesQuímica Nova
Sodium chloride, NaCl, was analyzed using two models based in classical physics with the main objective of verifying whether this ionic crystal is active or not to infrared absorption. The results from the first reduced mass linear diatomic model (RMLDM)

Addressing and manipulation of individual hyperfine states in cold trapped molecular ions and application to HD^{+} frequency metrology

open access: yes, 2012
Advanced techniques for manipulation of internal states, standard in atomic physics, are demonstrated for a charged molecular species for the first time.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

INTERACTIVE EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES IN THE COURSE "MOLECULAR PHYSICS"

open access: yesІнформаційні технології і засоби навчання, 2011
Teaching of general and special disciplines at physical faculty is impossible without a demonstration experiment, but not always the laboratory material resources correspond to the up-to-date level of a hardware.
