An XML repository for molecular sequence data

Proceedings IEEE International Symposium on Bio-Informatics and Biomedical Engineering, 2002
The emergence of the Extensible Markup Language (XML) as a new standard for data representation and exchange on the World Wide Web has created a new information revolution. Several proposals have been made to formulate molecular sequences in XML, however none of them mentioned the efficient storage and management of the resultant XML sequence data ...

Fixed Character States and the Optimization of Molecular Sequence Data [PDF]

open access: possibleCladistics, 1999
A method is proposed to optimize molecular sequence data that does not employ multiple sequence alignment. This method treats entire homologous contiguous stretches of sequence data as individual characters. This sequence is treated as the homologous unit employed in phylogeny reconstruction.

Molecular sequence accuracy: analysing imperfect data

Trends in Genetics, 1992
Molecular sequences are experimentally derived data that can be expected to contain errors as a result of diverse phenomena such as biological variation, molecular cloning artifacts, imperfect sequence determination, and data handling during contig assembly.

Molecular Epidemiology Database for Sequence Management and Data Mining

2017
A central database to aggregate sequence information from a range of epidemiological aspects including HTLV-1 pathogenesis, origin, and evolutionary dynamic would be useful to scientists and physicians worldwide. This Chapter describes two online tools for studies related to HTLV-1, the HTLV-1 Molecular Epidemiology Database and the HTLV-1 Subtyping ...

Molecular phylogeny of Trichostomoideae (Pottiaceae, Bryophyta) based on nrITS sequence data [PDF]

open access: possibleTAXON, 2005
AbstractBayesian analysis of an alignment of 83 nrITS sequences belonging to 66 taxa of Pottiaceae revealed representatives of subfamily Trichostomoideae in a well supported monophyletic lineage. Two robust clades within Trichostomoideae include species of Tortella and Weissia, respectively.

Evolutionary analysis of molecular sequence data

2007
Abstract In the 140 years since Darwin’s Origin of Species was published, evolutionary ideas have formed an important part of the theoretical framework of biological research, but their practical consequences have been few for most of that period.

Quantitation of Molecular Pathway Activation Using RNA Sequencing Data

2019
Intracellular molecular pathways (IMPs) control all major events in the living cell. IMPs are considered hotspots in biomedical sciences and thousands of IMPs have been discovered for humans and model organisms. Knowledge of IMPs activation is essential for understanding biological functions and differences between the biological objects at the ...
