Perturbation of base excision repair sensitizes breast cancer cells to APOBEC3 deaminase-mediated mutations

open access: yeseLife, 2020
Abundant APOBEC3 (A3) deaminase-mediated mutations can dominate the mutational landscape (‘mutator phenotype’) of some cancers, however, the basis of this sporadic vulnerability is unknown.

Molecular Dynamics approach of sol–gel transition: Comparison with experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A new aggregation model by a Molecular Dynamics approach at constant temperature was compared with experimental results on a zirconia precursor gelling process.

Photosynthesis under far‐red light—evolutionary adaptations and bioengineering of light‐harvesting complexes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phototrophs evolved light‐harvesting systems adapted for efficient photon capture in habitats enriched in far‐red radiation. A subset of eukaryotic pigment‐binding proteins can absorb far‐red photons via low‐energy chlorophyll states known as red forms.

The Physical and Chemical Structure of Hot Molecular Cores

open access: yes, 2003
We have made self-consistent models of the density and temperature profiles of the gas and dust surrounding embedded luminous objects using a detailed radiative transfer model together with observations of the spectral energy distribution of hot ...

Molecular observation of contour-length fluctuations limiting topological confinement in polymer melts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In order to study the mechanisms limiting the topological chain confinement in polymer melts, we have performed neutron-spin-echo investigations of the single-chain dynamic-structure factor from polyethylene melts over a large range of chain lengths ...

Molecular structure of the ATP-bound, phosphorylated human CFTR

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2018
Significance Mutations in cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) cause cystic fibrosis, a lethal genetic disease occurring in people of northern European descent. Decades of study have been directed toward a molecular understanding of

Rad27/FEN1 prevents accumulation of Okazaki fragments and ribosomal DNA copy number changes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The budding yeast Rad27 is a structure‐specific endonuclease. Here, the authors reveal that Rad27 is crucial for maintaining the stability of the ribosomal RNA gene (rDNA) region. Rad27 deficiency leads to the accumulation of Okazaki fragments and changes in rDNA copy number.

Do we need to know the temperature in prestellar cores?

open access: yes, 2007
Molecular line observations of starless (prestellar) cores combined with a chemical evolution modeling and radiative transfer calculations are a powerful tool to study the earliest stages of star formation. However, conclusions drawn from such a modeling

Uncertainty Estimates for Theoretical Atomic and Molecular Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Sources of uncertainty are reviewed for calculated atomic and molecular data that are important for plasma modeling: atomic and molecular structure and cross sections for electron-atom, electron-molecule, and heavy particle collisions.
